viper 210hv problem

Ok.i had this thing installed by a REPUTABLE shop in Alton 2 yrs ago and that is where my troubles started. Worked good for 3 months.....then locks worked irratic.sometimes would lock-unlock going down the road. Took it to the shop and was told its a dealer problem(van is a 2005 dodge.....under warranty). So.i took it to the dealer and bammo......i got charged 85 dollars and was told its due to the viper malfunctioning. Ok.so i went back to the shop and...its been going on for 1 year now. I was told it needed a door switch(40 dollars.i installed and still doesnt work).......then found alot of bad crappy wiring job crud(looked like a 6 yr old kid with a soldering gun did this job) so i took it back up there. Then they tried to blame my wiring of the defroster i added to the van(my stuff was soldered and heat shrinked.......hmmm)...but they did tidy up their wiring but still it doesnt work. Im tired of the back and forth bull im getting and im smart enough if i knew how these things are wired........i can at least tell what is wrong. I did get a generic diagram and found the double relays have no power going to them(i beleive its to terminal 87 on both relays). I called viper and they told me the viper module controls that(which..as i told the nice people before.i think the viper has expired and it has a lifetime warranty!!!). So.if anyone works on alarms and can help me.....holler. Ill make it worth your time for sure. Thanks

Anyone have a wiring diagram for power locks for a 2005 caravan? i was told.....2001-2007 wiring for door locks all the same.

Link did what i needed it to do. Provided me the info for the BCM(body control module). I found out....it had inputs(power and grounds) but no outputs and this thing controls alot of stuff. So...........i got frustrated once again thinking this was a dealer electrical problem they should have seen. But....i went to google...asked for dodge forums and wamma. came up with a site.dodgeforums.com. And low and behold......under the Caravan section is about 6 threads of power locks working irratic or not even working. Seems that the BCM gets in a funk due to static electricity(or.thats what they think it is) and looses its memory for the function mode of locks. So.disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and tada..its working. But also there seems that the dealers have been fighting this symptom and even have an upgrade for the BCM(which the dealer didnt know of i guess...lol) but for 50 percent of the instances..its not a cure all. Well..least i know its a dealer problem now and i can tell the stereo people its not all their fault but they should have known this too.....since i found 3 stereo install forums....and this symptom is on there also repeatedly. Thanks again for the link. It provided me with the stepping stones to figuring this pain in my rump out

update-called the dealer and was told i have to pay an additional $85 for labor.plus the update since now its not under warranty. I called Dodge and told them it should have had the upgrade installed when it came in the first time for this symptom(i am a mechanic.and if i have anything come in with a common problem and it has an update.......it gets the update first!). I was told this is NOT a nationwide issue(if you goto dodgetech.com.......different story) and i will have to pay for this and it may not even solve it 100 percent. So..i filed a complaint with Dodge..sent to bbb a complain as well. Its double dipping and ripping people off. Door locks worked for 3 days and went inoperative again. Disconnected just the BCM this time...and they worked again. So.its definately the BCM loosing it ability to work the locks. Anyone with a 2005 dodge or Chrysler van still under warranty..make sure you get the BCM upgrade now.

90,Have you tried disconnecting alarm totally? That should isolate the problem to bcm. I guess the outputs of the alarm could be triggering the relays??? You gotta love the speed demon alarm installers even if they aren't to blame... There are more dodge dealers out there. Ask questions, All they can do is sick the dog on you and ask you to leave ,Right? I sure miss the 70's, Remember being scared of the lean burn?

Lol. Chrysler and the lean burn. Brings back memories(alot.are bad.lol). I took it to another dealer and had the update done to the BCM. This problem is caused by static electricity and i proved that to them. It has been 3 weeks and its working like a champ. Just too bad the dealer and Chrysler cost me over a years of grief with the alarm company trying to get this problem fixed. if i disonnected the alarm.........the power locks still would quit after couple of days. Chrysler has the best mini van on the market. They should fire the dude who invented the transmissions(still to this day.their transmissions are the weakest thing out there) and settle the little issues like i had and honor the warranty. Trust me.i have tried every avenue and even called Chrysler myself(got hung up on 3 times.were very rude !) so i got ahold of a decent service guy.explained i wanted to do the update and forget any diagnostics. After it fixed the problem.i filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I was charged 1 time while the van was under warranty for something that should have been fixed for free. Then to go through the issues with the alarm company(numerous times without a vehicle....disgust by those guys when they couldnt fix it either) and the time it took me to just tear it all apart and figure it out myself. I wont buy another Dodge. Im done with them. Bought Dodges for the last 14 years.

Yeah, it's kinda tough getting them to give you what you want(w/out paying a diag fee of some sort) even when you know what you want. Most reflashes I've seen only call for .5 hr or so, BUT if no one else has the equipment but the dealer I guess they got you over a barrel....Do you think it's marketing?????? Aftermarket scan tools w/ flash capability just sound expensive don't they? I wouldn't give up on the dodges, just the later models, there are plenty of the older ones out there yet. Just try to convince your wife and kids that a 77 fury wagon w/woodgrain trim and a luggage rack is a retro suv.

Yea when i was a kid we had a full size chrysler with the bir reverse seat in the back. we were in heaven. Lol. 6 miles to the gallon was good back then
