For the second year in a row the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will pay a visit to Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, VA this Saturday Night, June 24. The "All American 50" Presented by Thurston Spring Service will highlight what promises to be an exciting evening of racing. There will be a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Comp Cams Time Trials, PBM Performance Heat Races, Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno and Penske Shock B-Mains and the 50 Lap "All American 50" A-Main paying $10,000 to win and $700 to start.

Last year the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series made its first ever visit to the ultra modern facility as Rick Eckert of York, PA passed Davey Johnson of Latrobe, PA late in the race to take the win. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series regular, Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH started last and blew through the field to finish in second place passing Johnson in the last few laps to take the runner-up slot as he was pressuring Eckert on the final lap for the win. The cameras of SPEED will be on hand to tape the "All American 50" and it will be shown on a date and time to be announced in the future.

Also a highlight of the evening will be the K&N Engineering "Clean Pass of the Race" which is awarded to a driver who makes the best pass of the night. The K&N Engineering "Clean Pass of the Race" can be awarded to a driver in a heat, consy or main event. Several different drivers have taken their turn winning the K&N Engineering "Clean Pass of the Race" and with the track crew at Virginia Motor Speedway providing a great racing surface so far 2006 it will be interesting to see who will win the award this upcoming weekend

Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL the 2005 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion currently sits atop the championship points standings by exactly 100 points over second place charger Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN. Donnie Moran is third followed by Matt Miller of Waterville, OH and last year's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rookie of the Year and this year's Eldora Dream runner-up, Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN.

A tight points battle also exists for positions 6-10 with current top man in the Rookie of the Year chase Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN leading the second group of drivers followed by Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV, Brady Smith of Solon Springs, WI, Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN and Corey Conley of Wellsburg, WV, who makes his first appearance in the top ten in '06.

Casebolt leads Brady Smith, Corey Conley, Michael England of Glasgow, KY and Damon Eller of Crumpler, NC in the chase for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rookie of the Year title.
