Chattanooga, TN (5/20/08) – Missing a golden opportunity, with a 3rd place or better finish this past weekend, Randy THE DREAM Weaver could've tied or even held the Southern RANKINGS points lead leaving Cleveland, TN, Saturday night. Instead the # 4 ranked racer in the South region will have two (2) possible opportunities on this coming up Memorial Day Weekend to post some Top 5 finishes. Current leaders in the standings Chris Wall and Randle Chupp didn't compete in guidelined events this past weekend. Wall is on Injured Reserve an isn't expected back for over a month, while Chupp was just AWOL from the unrankable Carolina Clash twin event. Over in West Tennessee two other racers are making good in the Southern RANKINGS as both Ronny Lee Hollingsworth and Anthony Burroughs collected Southern Regional Racing series Top 5 finishes at the Milan (TN) Speedway event on Saturday. Hollingsworth has had two successful weekends, winning a week ago Saturday in Columbus, MS, before brandishing a 3rd this weekend. Fellow BAMA dirt-slinger Burroughs collected a strong runner-up to winner Dane Dacus, who was on home turf not far from his Arlington, TN residence.

Looks as though anything better than a 3rd place run this weekend with either the Battle of the Bluegrass series or with the SRRs fella's, for Weaver could very well put himself in the 'cat-birds seat' in the Southern RANKINGS. Both series are in Tennessee (not far from Weaver's Crossville home) with $5,000. to-Win events on different nights. As for RLH and Burroughs, the Duck River Speedway, Sunday show could bring either racer towards the top of the Southern RANKINGS. Unfortunately for them the Friday's West Tennessee SRRs show is only a Lite RANKINGS ($3,000. to-WIN) event. Reigning O'Reilly Southern All-Star champ Ivedent Lloyd, who's currently 3rd in Southern RANKINGS points will likely stay close to his Florida home readying possibly for some events in South Georgia that will wrap up May. Any of the Southern RANKINGS seven (7) 'wonders' could blast into the Top 5 points lead; Ice Bowl champ Bobby Mayse, former World 100 winner Dale McDowell, Shep Lucas, Stacy Boles, 2007 Southern RANKINGS champ Dennis RAMBO Franklin, Ronnie Johnson or Dacus could tie Chris Wall and Randle Chupp by collecting their second (guidelined $5,000. - $9,999) wins of the season.
