(Warrensburg, MO) Last Saturday night the first races of the year were contested on the new clay-surfaced high banks of Central Missouri Speedway. Tim Karrick, Chad Eickleberry, and Jacob Ebert each picked up wins in their respective race divisions. Although the clouds in the skies looked rain threatening all day and night, the program went off without a hitch as the CMS crew kept things swiftly moving throughout the evening.

This week, drivers take to the track once again in pursuit of victory lane and the $1,000 weekly winner's paycheck in the modified division. Basehor, Kansas driver Tim Karrick is looking for his second-consecutive win as he will try to fend off the fierce challenges of the talented contingent of a-mod drivers. Jason Thompson, James McMillin, and Jim Moody are just a few of the heavy hitters expected to go for the win and you can never count out other CMS stand-outs such as Terry Schultz, Chad Lyle, Dean Wille, Dave Meyer, Richard Layne, and defending track champion, Aaron Marrant. Last week there were 23 a-mod drivers on hand for three heat races and the twenty-lap main event.

Local Warrensburg racer Chad Eickleberry brought home the win in the street stock division. His win did not come easy as Michael Mullins of Kingsville, Missouri pressured him the entire race distance with a hard-charging Marc Carter close behind Mullins in third. With only nine cars on hand, there were some interesting names missing from the line-up of street stocks. Some missing drivers were seen in the grandstands and pit area and stated their cars were simply not completed yet. In the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see which drivers have finished their cars in order to return to the racing action.

The B-mods were seventeen strong last Saturday night. Drivers competed in two heat races and the fifteen-lap main event. It appeared as though John Brooks won the main event; however, a post-race inspection led to his ultimate disqualification. Second-year driver Jacob Ebert was awarded his first-ever victory as a result of Brooks' misfortune. Ebert drove a smart race the entire distance and passed his good friend Bryan Montgomery early for the lead until Brooks got around him late in the event. The youngster drove like a veteran the rest of the way, which paid off for him in a big way at the conclusion of the race.
