Weisenberger Takes Quincy Win

Jerry Weisenberger, Dave Wietholder, Terry Houston and Eddie Dieker all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways Sunday night.

Clint Kirkham jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event and held off a persistent Jerry Weisenberger for the first 8 laps of the 30 lapper but Weisenberger took the lead with a pass off of turn four on the nineth lap.Weisenberger powered by Kirkham and stayed in control to the checkered flag but it was not an easy win by far as Kirkham stayed close in second until Burgtorf got past Kirkham and set his sights on Weisenberger on the twenty fifth lap. Weisenberger held on to his lead through two caution periods over the last 10 laps. Burgtorf pressed Weisenberger for the top spot until the right front suspension failed on the twenty eighth for the multitime track champion. When the green flag returned the field to action, Kirkham set his sights on Weisenberger and pulled within striking distance on the last lap but the veteran Weisenberger maintained his advantage and took his first feature win of the season. Ron Elbe, Brent Slocum and Jamie Wilson rounded out the top five while Weisenberger and Dustin Neese took the checkered flags in the heats. Lonnie Bailey took the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy dash. Brent Slocum has assumed the three point ead in the chase to the Budweiser Tack Points Championship by virtue of his featue event finish and Lonnie Bailey’s eighth place feature. Slocum leads by 3 markers Over Bailey in second, David Weitholder scored his first ever Miller Lite A Modified feature event in dominating fashion by lead all 20 laps.

Weitholder at times had up to a straight away lead over second place Jim Roach. Michael Long grabbed third with Danny Lake in fourth and Mark VanWinkle in fith. Michael Long now holds a 8 point lead over veteran Henry Delonjay In his quest for a first track points championship.

Joe Hooper was the early leader in the B-Modified feature event with Terry Houston coming from his sixth row starting spot to challenge for the lead by the eighth circuit. Houston then pulled into a comfortable ot lead and held on
to take his second win of the eason. Hooper settled for second with Gary Dreyer in third, Wyatt Lance in fourth and Tony Dunker in fifth. Hooper, Lance, and Gary Dreyer were the heat race winners while Dunker grabbed the win in the P&S Auto and Truck Collion repair. Wyatt Lance and Tony Dunker are now tied for the points chase with 434 points.

Eddie Dieker came from his sixth row starting spot in twelve laps and never looked back to take his sixth points race win over the season. Following Dieker to the checkered flag was Steve Carlin in second, Dan Weimelt in third, Jarrod Richie in fourth and Brent Chapman in fifth. Trevor Hagenbaumer, Jarod Richie, and Wiemelt were the heat race winners. Dieker now hold a thirty two point lead over Adam Birck and 34 point lead over Carlin.
