(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace currently sits twelfth in the new World of Outlaw Late Model Series point standings after the first four races at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL. The J&J Steel #88 GRT “House Car” Monte Carlo had a fifth place run in the opening night of WoO competition, but then posted mediocre finishes the following three nights of WoO action. Wendell then competed in two of the UMP-sanctioned races last week, but could only muster a high finish in those events of 21st. A brief recap of Wendell’s six-race journey at the 1/3-mile speedplant near Daytona Beach follows:

February 3 – WoO - $5,000 to win – 5th
February 4 – WoO - $5,000 to win – 12th
February 6 – WoO - $10,000 to win – 12th
February 8 – WoO - $12,000 to win – 17th
February 11 – UMP - $5,000 to win – 21st
February 12 – UMP - $5,000 to win – DNS

“It was kind of a struggle for us down there,” said Wendell on Monday. “There is just not much more I can say than that. We are going to regroup during this lapse in racing action and finish moving into our new shop here in Batesville. It is early in the season and we aren’t going to get down because we didn’t have the type of Speedweeks we wanted to have. The next World of Outlaw race is at Atomic (TN) Motor Speedway and I have had quite a bit of success there in the past. Maybe we can gain a little ground that we lost in the point standings.”

Wendell Wallace Autosports is unsure of where they will be competing next. Wendell is a past champion of the Bama Bash at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL, but a decision about that race will not be made until the days leading up to the February 28-29 event. The next World of Outlaw Late Model Series event is scheduled for March 13-14 at Atomic Motor Speedway in Knoxville, TN. Log on to www.atomicmotorspeedway.com to learn more about this event.
