(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Brian Birkhofer Racing brought home a strong Top Ten finish in the last weekend of Xtreme competition at the Annual Xtreme Hardee’s Shootout at Woodstock, GA this past weekend. Brian qualified 9th fastest of the 97 entrants, but failed to make the $55,000 to win show through his heat race. He finished fifth in his heat on Friday, but ran second in one of the consolation events on Saturday to earn a 23rd starting spot in the big 100-lapper. Brian picked off 15 cars en route to an eighth place finish in his Seubert Calf Ranches / Daufeldt Transport / Double Eagle Sales #15b MasterSbilt / Pro Power Monte Carlo.

Birky also competed in the Isky Racing Cams Dash, which featured the Ringers Gloves Fast Qualifiers of the 2003 season battling it out for the $5,000 top prize. Brian was running second when he broke, relegating the #15b to a disappointing 14th place finish. You can watch all the action from Dixie Speedway on the SPEED Channel on October 31 at 11 p.m. E.S.T.

“We wore our stuff out trying to get to the front,” said Birky from his race shop on Monday. “We had to start way in the back because we screwed up in the heat race, but we had a good car to get up to eighth. I just kind of held on out there late in the race, because he had worn the edges off our tires.”

With his eighth place finish in the Xtreme Hardee’s Shootout, Brian wrapped up the runner-up spot in the 2003 XDCS point standings. Brian ended up with 3 wins, 19 Top Five’s, 28 Top Ten’s, and 9 Fast Time Awards in the 35 XDCS events this season. He also posted impressive numbers in the televised races, as he picked up 6 Top Five’s, and 8 Top Ten’s in the 10 televised shows this year. He was fifth in the Advance Auto Parts Hard Charger points for the year and finished the fifth most laps in XDCS competition. Brian was also sixth in the most laps led this year, as he led 131 laps in XDCS races this year.

Next up for Brian Birkhofer Racing will be the 23rd Annual Dirt Track World Championship, which will be held for the second year in a row at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY. Action kicks off at the ½-mile facility located right off of the Bluegrass Parkway in central Kentucky this Saturday afternoon.
