(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) The Wendell Wallace Autosports team has changed their racing plans for the upcoming weekend. Wendell will bring his J&J Steel / JFR Graphics #88 GRT modified to the Batesville Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas tonight. The regular show tonight will serve as a tune-up for the big $100,000 to win modified event that will be held at Batesville from July 26-30. Wendell’s Saturday plans are uncertain at this time. He will either bring his Dirt Late Model to the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri for the $10,000 UMP Summernationals event or to the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma for the $3,000 to win O’Reilly MLRA Series show. The decision will not be made until after the race tonight at Batesville or possibly even on Saturday morning.

“We decided to come back home after a few of those Summernationals races because we have some work to do on this modified,” said Wallace on Friday afternoon. “Our modified program is not where it needs to be yet heading into the $100,000 show at the end of the month. We need to get some more track time at Batesville, so that is the reasoning for coming home. As for Saturday, I have no clue where we will go to race. We may just flip a coin to decide if we head to Pevely or Muskogee.”

The Batesville, Arkansas driver landed a pair of Top Ten UMP Summernationals Series finishes last week. On Tuesday, Wendell set the fourth fastest time in qualifying at the Paducah (KY) International Raceway on Tuesday night. He won his heat race to advance to the $6,000 to win event where he finished tenth in the final rundown. The following evening, Wendell was in action at the Clarksville (TN) Speedway in another $6,000 to win event. “The Batesville Bullet” finished second in his heat race and seventh in the main event.

Wendell was also at the Mount Vernon (IL) Raceway on Thursday night for yet another UMP Summernationals Series race. Rains came during Wendell’s heat race and he decided to load up and head towards home instead of waiting out the rain all night. The racing program eventually got back underway, but Wendell was already headed back towards Batesville.
