(Batesville, AR) Wendell Wallace Autosports was back in action this past weekend at the three MARS sanctioned events. The team was scheduled to travel up north to run with the Xtreme DirtCar Series, but inclement weather lead to the decision to stay closer to home to run with the MARS series. However, the rain did not elude the south, as two of the three MARS events were postponed due to the treacherous storms that criss-crossed the country.

On Thursday night, Wendell Wallace Autosports planned to make an appearance at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO, but that event was postponed and no make up date has been set for that event as of this time. The Friday night event at Memphis Motorsports Park in Memphis, TN was ran as scheduled and Wendell was able to set fast time at the tight ¼-mile oval. He went on to transfer through his heat race and led the first 26 laps of the 40-lap, $3,000 to win event. On a restart on lap 27, Wendell ran the middle groove and Jeff Taylor was able to sneak by him on the bottom and Wendell trailed him the remaining 14 laps of the event and had to settle for a solid second place effort.

The rains then hit again Saturday while the first consolation event was on the track at the I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR. Wendell had already transferred into the main event through his heat race and will start the main event from the inside of the fourth row on the rescheduled date of July 26.

“We had a good strong run there at Memphis on Friday,” said Wendell from his shop on Monday. “We let Jeff get around us on the bottom there on that restart and we never could get back by him. But a second place finish sure beats where we have been finishing lately.”

Wendell and crew will compete next in this weekend’s MARS sanctioned events at the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee, OK and Wheatland Raceway in Wheatland, MO. Both events will pay $3,000 to the winner. For the latest on Wendell Wallace Autosports, visit their official website at www.wendellwallace.com.
