(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace Autosports tried to outrun the rain last weekend, but fell a bit short. After the O’Reilly MARS Series events were rained out in Oklahoma last weekend, Wendell and the team headed south to Chatham, LA and the Fast Trax Motorplex. The J&J Steel #88 GRT / Keith Craft Ford Taurus wound up with the seventh fastest time in qualifying and won his heat to earn an inside second row starting spot for the unsanctioned, $15,000 to win ‘Southern 100.’ However, the rains came and wiped out the rest of the weekend. The event has been postponed until Saturday, May 22 when the consolation events and the ‘Southern 100’ are scheduled to resume.

“We were pretty good down there, but it would have been interesting with the spoiler and motor rules that were in place,” said Wendell on Monday. “We will probably make the trip back down there on May 22, but there are a lot of other races going on in our neighborhood that same weekend. We have a couple of weeks to worry about that because we are really gearing up for the ‘Alltel 100’ coming up here pretty soon.”

Wendell will stick around home this weekend and compete with the O’Reilly MARS Series. Friday night’s event will be held at the Bolivar Speedway in Bolivar, MO. The I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, MO will be the host of the Saturday MARS Series race. Both shows will pay $3,000 to win.
