(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace Autosports took off to east Tennessee to compete over the Labor Day weekend, but had two disappointing results to show for their efforts. On Friday night, the J&J Steel / MSE Distributing #88 GRT / Craft Ford Taurus was in action at Crossville Raceway USA in Crossville, TN for a $7,500 to win unsanctioned event. “The Batesville Bullet” landed a second place finish in his heat race, but missed the setup in the feature, which resulted in a DNF.

Wendell and crew then headed to nearby Knoxville, TN and Atomic Speedway for the annual Labor Day weekend running of the Fox 43 / Advance Auto Parts 100. The team qualified third fastest in Saturday night qualifying and advanced to the big 100-lap, $20,000 to win feature later that night by finishing second in their heat race. The consolation events and the feature were postponed a day due to persistent rains in the Knoxville area. So, the team returned to Atomic today to resume the event and they had a solid run going until engine problems plagued the #88 on lap 58. Wendell was forced to retire from the event and settle for 18th place pay at the pay window. You can watch the event held today at Atomic on the SPEED Channel on Thursday night, September 11 at 11 p.m. EST.

Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH will now be the next stop on the 2003 circuit for Wendell Wallace Autosports, as they will compete in the annual World 100 this coming Friday and Saturday night. Qualifying is scheduled for Friday night, with heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap, $36,000 to win World 100 on tap for Saturday. Wendell will look for better luck at Eldora this weekend then he had back in June for the Dream, where he was involved in a nasty heat race incident that badly damaged one of his GRT Ford Taurus’.
