(Batesville, AR) Wendell Wallace Autosports was struck with more bad luck this past weekend when they competed in the two MARS-sanctioned events at Batesville Speedway in Batesville, AR on Friday night and West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO on Saturday. Both events paid $3,000 to the winner for his efforts.

On Friday night, Wendell was caught up in a heat race incident, which made him come through a last chance race to get into the feature event. Wendell took the checkered flag in his last chance event and started in the 17th place position for the feature. The J&J Steel / MSE Distributing sponsored #88 GRT / Keith Craft Ford Taurus was on the way to the front throughout the 40-lap feature event. Wendell earned the W&W Concrete Hard Charger Award by moving up to the sixth place finishing position.

The following night, Wendell made the feature event at West Plains through his heat race. He lined up eighth for the main event and was battling for the lead by lap 25. Wendell put the #88 at the point on lap 27, only to be spun out by another competitor two laps later. He had to go to the tail and wound up finishing 11th.

“We actually had a pretty good car all weekend,” said Wendell on Monday. “We just got caught up in a couple of incidents on both nights that kept us from a good finish. We just hope this monkey gets off our back soon and Cedar Lake would be a great place to lose it.”

Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI will be the next stop for Wendell Wallace Autosports. The Xtreme DirtCar Series sanctioned “Masters” will be this coming Friday and Saturday and will be formatted similarly to NASCAR’s “Winston” all-star event. There will be three segments of the “Masters” on Saturday, with the final twenty-lap segment paying $20,000 to win. The event will also be taped by the SPEED Channel for viewing later this summer on Xtreme “Dirty Thursday.” “The Batesville Bullet” is a former winner of the “Masters” event at Cedar Lake, as he won it in 1999 when the race paid $51,000 to win.
