(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace picked up his sixth win of the season on Friday night in the tune-up to the 1st annual Gumbo Nationals at the Delta Bowl Speedway in Tunica, MS. The win was worth $1,500 to the team and was a good test session for the $7,000 Gumbo Nationals, which was held on Saturday. Wendell was running second late in the Gumbo Nationals and needed a yellow to catch up with race leader Steve Russell. The yellow eventually came out, but their was too many lapped cars in between Wendell and Russell, so the J&J Steel / MSE Distributing #88 GRT / Craft Ford Taurus settled for a second place run and a $4,500 payday.

Wendell Wallace Autosports will return to action this coming weekend, as the #88 team heads to Wheatland, MO and Wheatland Raceway for the closing events of the 2003 season for the MARS Series. Both Friday and Saturday night will feature $3,000 to win shows and Wendell figures to be in the mix when the action heats up in the Show-Me state this weekend. Wendell ran second in his last outing at Wheatland back in August and is looking for a couple more strong runs to give the team some momentum to close the season out.
