(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Current O’Reilly Mid-America Racing Series (MARS) point leader, Wendell Wallace of Batesville, AR, scored a win and three Top Five finishes over the busy Father’s Day weekend. Wendell won $3,000 by reaching victory lane in his J&J Steel / JFR Graphics #88 GRT / Keith Craft Ford Taurus on Friday night at the Malden Speedway in Malden, MO. He then claimed the runner-up spot in the MARS show at the West Plains (MO) Motor Speedway in Saturday. The busy weekend wrapped up Sunday at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, IL. Wendell ran a solid fifth on the big ½-mile, semi-banked oval despite suffering a bent tie rod in the feature event. Wendell is currently leading the MARS points by 23 points over Terry Phillips.

“It was a good, solid weekend for us,” stated Wendell via telephone today. “We picked up a win at Malden on Friday and then had strong runs the other two nights. We didn’t gain a lot of points, if any, because (Terry) Phillips ended up winning the other two shows over the weekend. Consistent weekends like we had this weekend will be the key to holding onto the point lead for the rest of the season.”

There are two MARS events on the schedule for this coming weekend. Wendell and the team will be at the Batesville Speedway in Locust Grove, AR this Friday night. The Thunder Valley Speedway in Fayetteville, AR will await the competitors of the MARS Series on Saturday. Both events will pay $3,000 to the winner.
