(BATESVILLE, AR) For the second weekend in a row, Wendell Wallace suffers a mechanical failure that costs him a top finish in one of Dirt Late Model racing’s biggest events. This weekend it was the 23rd Annual Dirt Track World Championship at Bardstown, KY. Wendell suffered a flat tire on lap 75 while running solidly in the seventh position. He pitted for fresh rubber, but could only muster a 13th place finish in the $60,000 to win, 100-lap event held on Sunday afternoon.

In preliminary action, Wendell was tenth fastest amongst the 151 cars in attendance on Saturday afternoon. In heat race action later that night, Wendell won the first heat from the outside of the front row to earn a ninth place starting spot in the DTWC.

“You couldn’t pass out there all weekend,” said Wendell after the event Sunday night. “Then we got burnt by their invert deal that had inverted the nine heat race winners, so we had to start ninth instead of on the pole. The thing that makes no sense is that they didn’t invert the second place finishers and Scott (Bloomquist) started right beside me in the feature and I beat him in the heat race.”

Wendell Wallace Autosports will hit the track again this weekend at the Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, OK. The Budweiser Spooker 50 is on tap this weekend and the action will kick off on Friday night with a $2,500 to win event. Saturday will feature a $5,000 to win show to conclude the weekend. Wendell finished second in a MARS-sanctioned event there in August in his MSE Distributing / J&J Steel #88 GRT / Craft Ford Taurus. Jeff Taylor will be piloting a back-up #88 during the Budweiser Spooker 50 this weekend.
