Chattanooga, TN (6/16/08) – Just like 2007 Northern RANKINGS champion did a year ago, THE SALT ROCK EXPRESS Eddie Carrier Jr. keeps chugging rite along, coralling up top 5 after top 5 after top 5, not-to-mention the victories, 'count em' five (total) since debuting in mid-April. Saturday the 'W' came at the Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park as the Independent Racing series witnessed the Grover Motorsports # 28 'Engines Inc. Rail Car Division' sponsored Rocket / Grover Racing Engines, Ford Fusion racer mark his 4th victory with the group (in 2008), and he's not even in the top 10 in points with the second year Northern based touring pro's. Carrier's two closest competitors, 2007 Northern RANKINGS champ Robbie Blair has only garnered one IRs group victory this season and only has two (2) guidelined ($5,000. or higher paying to-WIN) marks, the last of which came in late April. The other # 28 Dennis Erb Jr. has just tied Blair with his third Northern RANKINGS guidelined victory Sunday in the Haubstadt, IN,
SUMMERNATIONALS $6,000. to-WIN race. The 2007 SN & United MidWestern Promoters champion piloted his 'Petroff Towing, J&J Steel, Thomason Express, PRC' sponsored Rayburn / Rhyne powered, Chevy Impalla SS racecar pass 2006 UMP national champion Randy KING-KONG Korte who joins the Northern RANKINGS for the first time in 2008, after only being back inside his racecar for only 7 days, with a runner-up finish.

Wes Steidenger raced to a $10,000. payday within the Northern RANKINGS guidelines Saturday night in Boswell, IN. The first win of the season for the # J1 'Executive Homes, Pontiac RV sponsored, Rayburn / ARC powered Chevrolet Monte Carlo tallied the Fairbury, IL racer to fifth in the Top 5 standings, surpassing 15 other ranked competitors. Tim Dohm rocked Rocky Top Raceway Friday for his 2nd Northern RANKINGS victory of 2008. Dohm pocketed the $5,000. prize piloting his # 6T 'Dohm Cycles, ZNT Racing, Simpson Racing, Melvin’s Transmissions' sponsored Rocket / Vic Hill powered, Chevrolet Monte Carlo to victory in Ohio, which makes me wonder why a track called Rocky Top is NOT in the state of Tennessee? Where's the Miller's, by the way??? Jeremy and Darren are still in the Northern RANKINGS Top 10, yet neither has produced a guidelined Top 5 finish since late May. Brian Shirley is calculating some good finishes. The Chathem, IL tallied 55 valuable points since June began and is currently the 9th ranked racer in the North, though the only racer in the Top 19 that has NOT garnered his 1st 'W' of the season. And finally Brad Neat is BACK in the game. The Dunnville, KY racer garnered a 5th in the first event of the 2008 Northern RANKINGS back in mid-March and we hadn't seen hide' nor hair of him, until Thursday. Kicking off the UMP SN'L grinding schedule the # 41 'Begley Properties, Tarter Gate, NWN Distributing, Tarter & Roberts Insurance' sponsored MasterSbilt / Cornett powered, Ford Fusion racer picked up the $7,500 payday at KY Lake Motor Speedway.

This weeks look-ahead has races beginning on Tuesday in Illinois and Pennsylvania. Korte's home (Highland) track gets invaded by the SN'L party for a $6,000. to-WIN event, while the PA POSSE get a visit from the World of Outlaw Late Model gang at Port Royal Speedway. Wednesday it's Belleville, IL's turn on the SN'L series, before Mount Vernon on Thursday's $6K event. A two nighter weekender everybody (yep; too many series to name) will be at Lucas Oil Speedway in Missouri for a $10,000. to-WIN show, that I'd hate to see the 'provisional' possibilities on, while the IRs fella's take to Dohm's neck of the woods at the Elkins Speedway.
Farmer City Raceway also is hosting a $10K SN'L show Friday that could very well produce Northern and National RANKINGS numbers. Saturday the Freeport (IL) Raceway Park gets in on the action as the World Dirt Racing League invades with a $5K race. Tyler Co.Speedway (home of the HILLBILLY 100) host the IR series on Saturday with it's second WV swing of the weekend. The FARMER's SISTER get it's shot Saturday with the SN'L guys coming to Pevely, MO for a $10,000. to-WIN event at I-55. And lets NOT forget about the Mid Atlantic Championship series and their 5,000. flight to Sharon Speedway in Ohio on Saturday. The weekend will finally wrap-up Sunday with a SN'L $6,000. to-WIN show in Danville, IL at the Vermillion Co. Speedway on June 22nd. It's SUMMERTIME folks, get out there and beat the heat with your favorite and mine dirt Super Late Model action at your favorite area track.
