Santa Maria, CA (October 24)-The Western Allstars, coming off a very successful 2006 season where they had an average car count of 36 and a high of 55, have released a tentative 2007-racing Schedule. According to Promoter Chris Kearns the reason for releasing the schedule so early and not quite complete is so other tracks and organizations have a chance to take a look at it and work on their schedule. Kearns says “I realize everyone can’t run on different nights, but if we can limit the amount of Dirt Late Model races scheduled on top of each other I think it will be better for everyone involved in Dirt Late Model racing. I believe Perris Auto Speedway and Santa Maria Speedway both have racers that enjoy coming to race with us on their off nights and if we can all work together it will help everyone’s car count.”

The Western Allstars will be starting their season at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 8th & 9th. The 2 nights of racing will be 2 separate shows with each night’s main events paying a minimum of $3000 to win. “That is Nascar weekend so fans and racers need to get their hotel reservations as soon as possible”, Kearns said. “I think having a series like ours at a track like Las Vegas Motor Speedway and on Nascar weekend will be tremendous exposure for West Coast Dirt Late Model Racing.”

Saturday, March 10th after 2 nights at LVMS the Western Allstars will be heading back to the track where they had their tremendous car counts in the 2006 season. The West’s Fastest 1/3-mile high-banked clay oval, Bakersfield Speedway. “I am very comfortable with the staff at Bakersfield Speedway they all take their jobs very serious and I really appreciate that”, remarked Kearns. The Allstars will also be making 2 holiday appearances at Bakersfield Speedway on Memorial Day weekend Saturday, May 26th and Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 1st. From there the Western Allstars will be heading to the New Kings Speedway on March 31st to race for promoter Frank Dias. According to Kearns, “Dias really has the right idea about thinking big and taking care of the racers. The Western Allstars will make a total of 6 regular season stops at Kings Speedway in Hanford, April 14, May 12, June 30, Aug. 4th, Sept. 15th and the W.A.S. will be sanctioning the end of year Nationals on October 5th & 6th, 2007. The format for the Nationals will see 2 separate nights of racing and the Western Allstars will be awarding a complete 2007 Victory Circle rolling chassis in a drawing to one of their competitors that attend all of the 2007 Western Allstar events.

The Western Allstars will also be visiting Racing Field of Dreams @ Reno-Fernley Raceway on June 16th. Kearns states,” the 500-acre motorsports complex is an awesome facility to race on and with the fold down bleachers and tailgate area it is a great place for spectators. Plus it is just outside of Reno, Nevada. What else could a racer or fan ask for?”

The Western Allstars will also sanction the 2 days of racing at Jim Hicks, Great Basin Raceway in Ely, Nevada on July 13th & 14th. Kearns stated, “ Jim is a really nice guy and asked for my help with his race. It is a real laid back event and the racers really seem to have a good time there. I think we can help bring back the car count that Jim has had in the past. The West coast needs events like this so I really want help keep it successful.”

According to Chris Kearns there are still a few dates that we are working on including March 10th, April 28th, August 18th and possibly some Friday night races. The Reno-Fernley, Ely, Nv. and LVMS events will be non-point events. Kearns states, “ I don’t want to make a racer tow that far for points, so only the centrally located California events will be for points.” Kearns added,” We will have a points fund; but to be eligible for the 2007 Victory Circle Dirt Late Model roller, the racers will have to attend all of the Western Allstar events, with the exception of 1 throw away race. There is always going to be the 1 weekend a racer can’t make it, so I want to be fair.” W.A.S. points races will pay a minimum of $2000 to win and $500 to start with a non-qualifier main paying $600 to win and $250 to start.

The Western Allstars will also be giving away a 2007 CJ Rayburn Dirt Late Model chassis at the end of the year. Other contingency awards will be, 1 Hoosier tire given away in every 2007 heat race, sponsored by San Luis Truck and 120 cases of oil given away thru out the year sponsored by H&S Bodyworks & Towing in Bakersfield, Ca. The Allstars will also be giving away a boys & girls bike to 2 lucky fans at every event.

Kearns says, “ I have put alot of thought into my race schedule. I am trying to keep an off weekend between each event for racers either to rest and get ready for the next event or race their local track. We will not be racing on Nascars 4 biggest Saturday night events The Charlotte Allstar Race, Daytona, Bristol and Richmond. It just seems to hurt the crowds too much and I want to make sure the tracks we go to make money when we are there. We are also not going to be racing on the World 100 or Dream weekends. I know a few of the racers like to go back to Eldora and I don’t want them to miss a points race, plus I might want to go. Also I have only scheduled 1 event in July because that is the #1 family vacation month”. Kearns is currently working with other tracks about other possible dates such at John Prentices, Ocean Speedway in Watsonville and the very fast Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA.
