Western Kentucky Speedway in action July 9th

Nebo, KY- July 8, 2005


Western Kentucky Speedway located just outside of Madisonville, KY will be holding another night of exciting racing action this Saturday night for all divisions on the beautifully prepared 3/8 mile speedplant. UMP Modifieds, Street Stock, Pure Stock and Cruisers will be on hand as the points championships start shaping up.

This will be the final event at Western Kentucky Speedway before taking a 2 week break to prepare the racing surface and blend in all new red clay on the speedway for the up coming World of Outlaw Late Model event scheduled for Friday night August 26th. WKS will return to action after this week on July 30th.

Last week Western Kentucky Speedway hosted the 7th annual Firecracker 35 for the UMP Modifieds with 26 cars on hand to battle for the $1,000 top prize money. 2 time UMP KY State Champion Jimmy Westerfield of Hartford, KY came out on top in his WT Harris chassis after leading from flag to flag. Coming across the line behind him were fellow WT Harris Chassis drivers Josh Harris, Randle Sweeney and Randy Westerfield. Brian Markham picked up the win in the pure stock division, Jason Neal in the Cruisers and Jr. Baize was the winner of the Street Stocks.

As the points races heat up, currently Michael Coakley holds the lead in the UMP Modifieds followed by Gabriel Kirtley and Jamie Cobb. Street Stock Brad Giffin takes the lead over Jason White and Alan Giffin. Pure Stock has Brian Markham leading over Shelli O’Bryan and Brad Barnett and in the Cruisers has KC Hibbs, Dallas Dickerson and Rick White as the top 3.

Gates will open this Saturday at 4pm with Hot Laps at 6pm Qualifying at 6:30pm and Racing at 7:30pm.

Western KY Speedway invites you to come experience the thunder at the Coble family owned and operated playground for power.
