What a shame

What is a big shame, is that we have all seemed to have forgotten where racing came from. Racing originated in the foothills of North Carolina. Where the racers were born from out running the police by transporting illegal goods. Moonshine drugs ect. My point here ole Ed Dixon might have gotten chosen to be a delivery guy because he is a stud and can outrun cops if need be. Like where racing came from. I'm sure lots of race teams are funded by illegal acts. Not that we care we love racing and seeing our heroes and friends compete for glory each night. If someone sells drugs to race hope they make enough money to sponsor another racer so we have better car counts. Plus they have more time to work on there car and travel around town bringing more fans into racing. Please don't shame the guy for doing something that is in all of our blood. Drugs and alcohol will always be in this sport that's where it came from. Like nascar canceling cigarette sponsors and beer sponsors when it made the damn sport. So stupid. Sucks he got caught though.

That was one of the dumbest post I have ever read.
Regardless of the roots of racing, this action can not be justified.
I hope that Ed Dixon overcomes this hurdle but blaming this on the past or other factors is making excuses for his actions.

I have a question for everyone would you want to be on a race track with someone that was doing drugs and racing on the same track with you or a love one? I don't think so!!!!

Seriously!?!?!?

ok you win dumb post. maybe this one will be more dumb for you. You say he raced high? My answer to your question would be yes I would race side by side with Ed Dixon anyday It appears to me that it made him better I guess cuz your not in the dirt track hall of fame for hitting stuff and being dumb and slow. This guy has 550 feature wins. Don't forget that. I hope he races again and gets himself back on track.

Did someone just compare corn sugar and yeast , to drain cleaner and who knows what else? As being similar?

You are a total moron this is not moonshine or even weed its meth a completely different animal and i dont think he was doing it all those years the last couple probly cause if you saw him at the track he looked like shit both on and off the track

I'm dumb yes. This is fun though. The whole get away from cops thing was a joke. And I'm telling you that you will not get drugs out of racing people. Or alcohol. Don't forget the guys that leave their shop with a 6 pack on the way to the track.Jeremy mayfield raced at the highest professional level doing cocaine. And tons of others too. You won't stop it and can't. I also raced with a guy that told me to my face he just sees shadows on the track can't even see the flag guy. So you drug test people at the track you gonna have a vision test too? And a reflex test? papy don grey at st Charles speedway had a heart attack and died while racing came through the pits wide open and all the way across the track and hit Jeff Lebuabe cutting his car in half and 2 feet from his hitting him in the drivers door and killing them both. You gonna put an age limit too? Sometimes the smallest things get so blown up. Like this whole thing. Yeah it sucks he did what he did but did it effect anyone on here?

Jimmy, if you fail to give the boot to the joker stirring the pot as if being a druggy enhances a drivers ability to race, are questions if those habits serve as an evil to the sport we love, and society as a whole, go ahead a pull the plug on my membership.

Ed was one of the best on and off the track but drugs changed that. If he was just using, that's his business.BUT if he was selling then he needs to be put in the big house. To many young ones getting their lives destroyed on this crap. Sorry he got caught up in this, but drugs have ruined many a good men and families.

Well said Gator. Couldn't agree more. If he were just using that's his business and his own monkey to feed. However, if he was caught trafficking or distributing that's a whole different animal.. But let's not milk the donkey before we get a bucket... none of us know the whole story. Casenet show the charges as "possession" with no mention of trafficking although the news story painted a different picture. I wish Ed the best outcome and hope he is able to pull things back together.

LEN GARSON here--------unlike a lot of those posting on this site regarding Ed Dixon -- I did in fact race and interact with him many years on and off the track...Not once was there any indication that he was high on any kind of drug......It is a shame that he let his life and good name in racing sink to such a state.....As a long time member of the St.Louis racing community I along with many of you posting regarding his situation can only hope he can turn his life around and some day return to racing in some form or another...................This is my opinion Lenny Garson "FIREBALL"

This has been going on for years but everyone looked the other way just look at a picture of him 10 years ago and look now I know for a fact he did the shit at the shit at the track seen it

I agree with you Fireball. I talked with Ed in the pits a lot over the years and I NEVER (not even once) left with the impression that he was on drugs. I can't say that about some others that I have encountered in the pits over the years (very small percentage overall) though.

the troll posts get old i agree but cmon man quit snitching to jimmy all the time that gets old too... get better Ed everyone makes mistakes even more than once nobodys perfect...

I watched Ed get high at the track multiple times pevely st charles godfrey everyone knew it but didn't say anything....... He should have never been allowed to race on any track....

It's great that you NOW decide to disclose this information. What a great citizen you are. A person under the influence of drugs may hurt someone or themselves, ask Kevin Ward. Oh wait. . .
