What a shame

Ed was the original Highside Hustler.... Emphasis on high

A very good friend of mine used to pit for Ed before Danny left for NASCAR. He said he never saw Ed using at the track. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, so take it for what you will. There have been reports for years that Ed was using while racing, similar to Scott Bloomquist. I don't know the reliability of this either. But I do know this. The stands used to be packed with kids wearing 50 gear. Always a line of ppl at his trailer after the races. Ed was a superstar, and a hero to a lot of kids.

I hope he gets his life back on track, but I don't see it. People only change IF they want to. This was not the first time, and I doubt it will be the last. He will never be competitive in a race car again, and should likely stay out of the sport he has seemingly turned his back on time and again.

And for those who say this story doesn't belong on here, grow up. Life isn't all roses and ass kisses. The man made himself an icon in this area, and that lends itself for better or worse. Calling out Griffaws past would be negative as well. Last time I checked he wasn't the one that had just been caught on the wrong on the wrong side of Johnny Law last week. Ed knew the consequences of his actions, and decided to take the wrong path. And its public knowledge, so get over it. If Ed didn't want his name dragged through the mud, he should have stayed off the dope!

Moonshine? Really? Damn revenuers....

We as a nation love to create heroes and then revel when they fall from the pedestal we have placed them on. So I shall repeat myself. .. innocent until proven guilty.

F40 or what ever your dumb ass name is I wish you would quit every post on this forum you got to put your 2 useless cents in!

I agree Doug!

I dont condone any of Eddies doings. But dont see a reason to personally attack him. Some people just love to shine their halos.

Seen him race many times yes it is very sad to hear this he is one of the great's he had somewhere around 550 feature wins how many late model drivers can say that VERY few hope he can get things turned around

I would say give 50, whom was our local hero, not only kids, but adults and drivers alike, the due respect he deserves, for what he gave us of many years. A local guy who could compete on the national stage, but more importantly the weekly highlights and amazing things he did in a race car week in and week out. Just stop this post and pray and wish the best for the man.......none of you could ever or have walked a mile in his shoes.

Did you not read the part in the news article that stated, “Police said the Crystal Meth was brought in from Mexico and fueled other crimes in the area.” Read another way, these arrested individuals “…fueled other crimes in the area.” After a six month investigation and good use of tax payer dollars, all five of these POS’s are off the streets, at least for a while. The shame rests squarely with Dixon for turning to a life of drugs. It's time for all five of the individuals arrested in the article to take responsibility for their chosen behavior. Dixon is going to prison. Distribution of Crystal Meth to people in Franklin County Missouri is reprehensible behavior. Shame on you Ed Dixon, at 61 years of age, you’re supposed to be setting the example for acceptable behavior that a civilized population (and the racing community) would want to emulate.

BTW, innocent until proven guilty, the presumption of innocence stemming from the Bill of Rights, is a legal right of the accused in a criminal trial. This is public forum, each member is free to draw their own conclusions.

Is the Dixon mentioned in the above May 2014 emissourian.com article, the same Dixon? Hmmm...

If you read the other article on emissourian that goes into details about this most recent encounter, it relates the police went to a home looking for someone else. Ed was there, they found 1/4 lb of what they believe to be pot and "some meth" and $1600 cash. So they arrested him. Who knows what the outcome will be, but we all know that when you have friends who do dumb things, sometimes you can get caught up in their crap when you really aren't actively involved.

He did the incarceration thing, which probably means he is still on probation. Which means drug testing. Which means getting thrown back in jail if you come up positive. Well, Ed hasn't been back to jail that I know of, so that means for whatever length of time he was drug tested, he was clean. And could still be clean for all we know.

In fact, the article says he posted bond and was released, so he is probably reading this as we type... lol

This is not exactly the most convincing case for "Ed is now a Drug Running Meth Addict." All I see is what it is, there were drugs in the home he was at and he was present, so he got arrested for possession. The rest remains to be seen.

And by the way, pot isn't even illegal in some states, so having a 1/4 lb would have not even caused a batted eyelid in say, Colorado. So let's not be too hasty to be throwing him completely under the double decker just yet.....

Yes, and in the court of public opinion, facts don't matter. Just preconceived biases that are usually based on emotion. The fact is he has been charged - not convicted. Some will always be in favor, some against. So I doubt I sway anyone's opinion, but would hope we at least keep an open mind while he awaits his day in court.

Five 0 is still the baddest man to strap it up in STL...... End of report. You can never take away his accomplishments and amazing things he did in a dirt car weekly. He has my support no matter what mistakes he's made personally. Seems like the only people who have turned their back is the racing community, Ed is still a good person.

I don't post here.... But this is personal. Delete this post Dearing if you have any respect for STL racing history.

Why would this be any different than the Jeremy Mayfield saga? You can't just include the good stuff in a racers career....the history of his career tells the "whole" story. Ed messed up the ending.

All you people who live in glass house's need to be careful. Bottom line like I told my daughter about this is we are not the judge in life. But to put him in your prayers that he finds the healing he needs. And to pray for that. Condone it no. But to pray for him to get the help he needs.

It is all public information so deal with with. Ed raced while doing drugs!!
Dearing I am glad you posted this so everyone know about Ed. There is a lot more about Ed thatvhe did in the past that a lot of people don't know.

Yes, this is public information, but after reading through the charges I do not see anything indicating activities during racing events. I believe you are trying to use this unfortunate situation to grind a personal axe. So let's stick to the facts please. Unless there is proof, your accusations are borderline slander.
