Keep Watching
Who's racing steel block late models & where ? I've heard Chris Winters ( also known as Racer X ) and crew will be racing at "The Playground of Power", TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY. (there's a plug for ya Chris :D :D :D ) Any one else ?

Mt Vernon runs them as a separate class, but they can run with the UMP Late Models as several do on a regular basis.

UMP rules state;

#44. Engines: 6" setback from center of ball joint to front of spark plug hole, no tolerance.
#45. 1-4 barrel carburetor, no fuel injection, no electric fuel pumps.
#46. No use of nitrous oxide, nitrous methane or propylene oxide.
#47. All engines limited to 1 spark plug and 2 valves per cylinder. No dual magnetos.
#48. All headers must pointed away from ground, horizontal, perferably to outside of car.

There is no mention of the type of block material required. Or whether you can or can not compete anywhere you wish.

racn4fun,

I believe they are referring to Mt. Vernon Raceway, they run both steel block and UMP late models.

Trying to prevent the steel blocks from waiting till they get to the track each week and seeing which class has the lower car count and then deciding which class they want to run in that night.

I fail to see that if they choose to race both as i had been refering to what diference it makes as to the block compound. I see the reason to inwhich you are refering as well.

Steel Block

At Mt. Vernon if a steel block jumps to ump late models they are not allowed to go back to the steel block class. Some of the steel blocks run the steel block class at Mt. Vernon and ump late models at other tracks.

Was my question that hard to understand ? All i was asking was , what drivers are racing in the steel block class and at what track?
I know TRI CITY SPEEDWAY is paying $750 to win, Mt. Vernon will have a pretty big points fund this year and KLMS does not pay very well. I was just wondering who is going where ?

Sean2

We have a few steel block latemodels. We ran MCS the last few years. We are thinking of racing Tri-City this year. We will know more for sure on what track we will run after the rules meeting for Granite Jan.4th. This is one of the three cars we will be running this year. This is our newest one.

Gee, I wonder where that pretty car was sitting when that picture was taken. LOL I think I have a picture exactly like it, go figure.

RaceGoddess, Hmmm I am not really for sure I am thinking maybe those after racing season bashes. Racestock I think it is called. LOL

Sean2, Unfortunantely this is my Fathers (Rod Bailey) new car he will be driving this one this year.

Hey sean do you have nothing better to do than this. Yeah Winters is thinking about running Tri-City. Now that I have got another car I am going to try to go to granite. Ray Emling is also wanting to go there. With The difference in money between Tri-city and Mt. Vernon we would be stupid not to go to Granite.
