He's known as the Wild Child, and on Friday night in the City of Lawrenceburg Sprint Nationals pitting the World of Outlaws Sprint Series against the All Star Circuit of Champions, Jac Haudenschild lived up to every bit of that nickname as he, Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky raced three-wide for the lead with three laps to go.

Haudenschild was on the top, forcing his Wright One Construction Maxim into the only opening Saldana and Dollansky, who had been engaged in a back-and-forth battle for the top spot themselves, would leave him. Haudenschild, who started fourth and dropped to 10th on the first lap, danced on the top of the cushion and then hammered his way to the front on Lap 38 and surged into the RacinSoles Victory Lane for the fourth time this season. He is now tied with Saldana for the second most wins in the series, behind Donny Schatz.

Friday's race marked the halfway point of the Bullring Swing, for Mean 15, which started on Monday night at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, S.D., continues tomorrow at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo., and will wrap up next
Wednesday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Ohio.

"It was a good race," said Haudenschild. "In the dash we got a few spots to give us a good starting position. The first few laps of the feature we had
to fight our way back. We fought our way back about three times after falling to 10th. The guys had the car set up really well. We were able to get up through there."

Joey Saldana, who led much of the event, wound up second in the Mopar-powered Dodge/Curb Records JEI with Dollansky, who traded the lead with Saldana until Haudenschild's bold move, grabbing third in the Karavan Trailers Maxim.

For Saldana who is second in points, it was a bittersweet night as he picked up his 15th Top-Five finish of the year. He led twice during the 40-lap feature for a total of 34 laps. He was pleased to finish the race and gain a few points on Donny Schatz in the season standings, but wanted to win the race he dominated early on.

"The track was pretty tough on equipment," Saldana said. "We definitely need to go through the car pretty good tomorrow. The way we bounced around on it out there. We're able to load the car in the trailer, so that is good. Lapped cars at the end would not give anything to the leaders, and you just can't forget what comes around goes around. I know that one day I will be getting lapped, hopefully not soon, but you have to remember that stuff and give the leaders some room. Obviously the lapped cars wanted to race us."

Saladana pulled out to an early lead off the initial start as he passed Dion Hindi down the back straight-a-way, and he also took command after a couple of early restarts in the 40-lap feature. Terry McCarl in the Big Game
Treestands Eagle put pressure on Saldana early, as he stayed right on his bumper during the first 10 laps. Then Dion Hindi closed back up again on the
Brownsburg, Ind. native, before Craig Dollansky threw his hat in the ring as well.

Despite being disappointed to not be in RacinSoles Victory Lane, Saldana found a silver lining to the evening, as his team continues to build momentum. He is confident the team will have a good run at I-55, as they continue the Bullring Swing, against the Mean 15 and the best from the All Stars.

"Last time we were there, we had a good solid run," said Saldana, who drives a car owned by NASCAR star Kasey Kahne. "Everything has been getting
better for us, every race. I look forward to any race."

Haudenschild used the high side of the track all night long, to weave his way in and out of traffic as he marched to the front. He masterfully went from the seventh spot all the way to third in one lap after a restart about a third of the way through the race. He patiently then negotiated traffic as he kept the leaders within striking distance. For the final three laps, he put on a
show that had all the fans on their feet.

"We had a good race the whole time, with Joey (Saldana) and Dollansky,"
Haudenschild said. "We were side-by-side and back and forth the whole
time. We
just had a good race, and we have had a few of those this year, and
hopefully
we?ll have a bunch more."

Being a veteran, Haudenschild knew that traffic would come into play on
the
tight and racy quarter-mile. He kept his foot down and didn't give one
inch
until he saw the checkered flag flying. A few times it looked like
there was
contact between the three leaders, but all concurred that there was
none, and
it was just good hard clean racing.

"I knew they (Saldana and Dollansky) were there," said Haudenschild.
"On a short
track like this everybody gets boxed up. We just had to get through
traffic and
pick the cars right. Sometimes you got trapped and sometimes go by
them."

The win for the Wooster, Ohio native, was his 44th with the World of
Outlaws,
which places him 9th on the all-time list. He now has 14 Top-Five
finishes as
he currently sits a solid fourth in points.

"We feel real good headed to Pevely," said Haudenschild. "We've always
run
pretty well there, and we look forward to all year long. We're running
pretty
good. Donny Schatz is still ahead of us and we have to run him down,
and keep
having good races."

Craig Dollansky led three laps during Friday's event and flexed his
muscle all
night long, despite battling an ill handling car. The Elk River, Minn.
native,
knows that the fans certainly got their money's worth as he was part of
the
late race battle for the top spot, that produced some of the most
memorable
racing of the season.

"There sure was a lot going on out there," said Dollansky. "We were
pretty good
for about three-quarters of the race. Then I started getting loose on
the
bottom. Once I got into the lead, I had a lapped car that was up on top
there
and if I could have cleared him and stayed up there I could have stayed
tighter. We ended up third, and it was not what we were looking for,
but head
on down for tomorrow night."

Always one to give it all he has, Dollansky was disappointed to not
pick up a
win, but he knows that there are plenty of races left this year, and
many more
chances to pace the field. He is currently third in series points.

"Joey was strong and Jac was strong and we were as well," said
Dollansky. "It
definitely made for a three car battle for the checkers. I probably
should have
gotten myself up top where I could have gotten tighter, but we ended up
third
and that is not a bad run. We just have to go to I-55 tomorrow and try
to win.
Pevely is one of my favorite tracks and I always look forward to going
there.
If things go your way, it can definitely be a track where you can get
after
it."

Current championship points leader Donny Schatz worked his way from
14th to
finish fourth in the ParkerStore J&J with Brooke Tatnell rounding out
the top
five in the Race Outfitters Eagle.

Schatz picked up his series best 20th Top-Five finish of the season. He
extended
his streak of finishing no lower than seventh, to 14 straight A-Feature
events,
which dates all the way back to the May 24 race at The Dirt Track @
Lowe's
Motor Speedway. The native of Fargo, ND always wants to win when he is
on the
track, and had a simple and philosophical assessment of how the evening
went
for his team.

"It (the car) rolls in the trailer," said Schatz. "We got here and did
not seem
very good, but that's just how some nights are."

Like Haudenschild, Schatz has had enjoyed success at I-55 Raceway. He
knows that
tonight is over with, and the team know has to focus on tomorrow and
putting
together another strong run.

"We were good at Pevely last time and got out of there with a victory,"
said
Schatz. "We went in there a little bit better and were rolling pretty
well.
Right now, we are trying to find ourselves, and we'll alright. We just
have to
get there and see what happens."

Tatnell worked his way up to the fourth spot, before a late pass by
Schatz put
him in the fifth spot as the checkered flag fell. The native of San
Souci, NSW,
Australia, compared the track at Lawrenceburg on Friday night to some
of the
tracks he battled on early in his career down under.

"I grew up on this rough stuff (tracks)," said Tatnell. "We should have
been
better than what we were. We were running down cars early on, and then
we got
caught behind two lapped cars, racing. We got a little messed up
there."

Tatnell currently is 6th in series points, just five markers out of
fifth spot.
He and his Troy Renfro led team look forward to the next two
short-track races,
as well as some of the higher paying events just around the corner.

"We feel good every night we go racing," said Tatnell. "Pevely is a
track you
can get racy with. It's slide job central, and as long as you respect
the guy
you are racing with, it can be good hard fun racing."

Dion Hindi, who started from the pole for the first time this season,
raced in
the top five for much of the event and finished sixth in the
RealTruck.com/Sniper Tuning J&J. Dale Blaney in the George Fisher
Racing Maxim,
was the highest finisher of the All Star Circuit of Champions regulars,
as he
came home seventh after advancing to the A-Feature by way of the
B-Main.

Jeremy Campbell in the Americas Best Value Inn Maxim was 8th, the
highest
finishing contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award
Presented
by Maxim Racing and ButlerBuilt. Paul May representing the All Stars in
the
Mike's Auto Wrecking Maxim was ninth, and Randy Hannagan in the
Penthouse
Magazine Maxim completing the top-10.

The Bullring Swing continues on Saturday night for the World of
Outlaws, and the
All Star Circuit of Champions, as the team head west to I-55 Raceway in
Pevely,
Missouri which is co-owned by NASCAR star Ken Schrader.
