Phenix City, Alabama (07/06/11) – The current Southern All Stars Super Late Model point's leader and rookie of the year leader, William Thomas, took advantage of an off-weekend for the tour to compete with the NeSmith Late Model Series in his #22 Extreme Power Sports/Mastersbilt/Crate Late Model, and he made the most of the opportunity by winning both events.

The weekend opened on Friday night at Penton Raceway (Penton, Alabama) in a $2,500 to win, NeSmith Late Model Series event. With 31 entries on hand, William would set fast time to earn the pole for the feature. In the 50 lap, main event he would lead from the drop of the green flag, and for the most part would be unchallenged as he picked up his second NeSmith tour win of the 2011 season, and his second win overall of the season. The victory came in front of Tom Darda, Chase Edge, Bob Robertson, and Dan Breuer.

Saturday night found the team pitted in familiar territory as they made the short trip to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama) in another $2,500 to win, NeSmith Late Model Series program. While the end result of the night would be the same as the night before it would not come as easy as Thomas had to work his way forward from the fifth starting position in the 50 lap feature. By lap 23, William was up to the second position, when disaster struck for the leader, Richie Stephens, as his powerplant expired, ending his night early. Thomas would inherit the lead and would go on to lead the final 27 laps to claim his second win in as many nights, which came over Chase Edge, Larry Harrod, Dan Breuer, and Jake Teague. Full results from both events are available at www.NeSmithRacing.com.

William is currently unsure if he will enter any events for the upcoming weekend, so stay tuned to www.WilliamThomas.net for the latest schedule information.
