Winner/Losers with NST/Outlaw split

What are the thoughts on who wins and who loses on the split.

Kinser wins. Kinser sets himself up to win an even greater percentage of the races by spilting the field. If Lasoki has his anchor out again this year then Kinser wins 90% of the shows.

Door opened in the Outlaw tour with Kinser gone. Making all the other drivers winners.

Some lower budget teams win. Teams that previous couldn't run the tour now getting a chance with tow money help.

Reduced fields of travelers will allow more local drivers to make the field. Local guys win.

Outlaw tour more competive and interesting (mixed bag of winners).

NST one guy winning everything. Everybody booing by mid season.

Fans lose. Splitting the field and isolating the top teams from many tracks. Limiting the opertunity see all the top teams in one spot.

Knoxville Nationals should be interesting.

As far as the drivers go right now...they are smelling a little bit of extra freedom since the "Top Dogs" won't be at the Outlaw races this year. You will definitely see some new faces. But, most of your drivers will admit that this year will probably be one for the "What the Hell?????" column.

As for the fans...I don't think the fans will lose, they may complain a little, but really only time will tell about that one. I can tell you as far as my family and friends go, we will be hitting ANY big sprint car race that we can make it to. I already have our Outlaw tickets for the Pevely and Eldora shows, and plan on traveling to Granite City and Sedelia for the NST shows. Knoxville is still work in progress....

I don't think that there will be much difference on who you will see in the winners circle this year compared to years past. Haudenschild, Saldana, Schatz, Tatnell, Pittman, Kemenah and Dollansky will rule the roost on the Outlaw trail and Kinser, Lasoski, Mcmahan, Meyers and Shaffer will rule the roost on the NST side. I still don't think the "low budget" teams will find it any easier to win even with the way things are right now.

The way in which the split has occurred, it has put the power in the hands of the promoters. The promoters are not always going to do what's best for the sport, but instead may try to do what's best for their own situation. I really hope that most of them will see that and try not to capitalize on that and make matters worse.

The season really hasn't even started yet, so most of this is just one big guess. My question is what's going to happen when everyone gets done trying to prove who's the smartest? Is it going to stay like this or will they once again join hands? This is, of course, only my opinion.:)

NST Results Night #1- Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway 2/24/2006:

37 cars entered, 36 took time. Paul McMahan set fast time. Two cars from the World of Outlaws showed up : Joey Saldana and Brooke Tatnell. One car absent from the NST camp was Brandon Wimmer, speculation is that they didn't get the sponsorship that they need to go racing yet.

So Tatnell and Saldana was brave enough to cross the line. How will the Outlaws bosses take that? This could set the standard going forward for everyone else. If it's allowed then are we are back to full fields of top teams again at some shows?

The rule for the WoO is: no events within 48 hours and a 250 mile radius of a sanctioned WoO event or a 250 point deduction will incur. The only time I have seen that rule bend a little is when they are co-sanctioned with another series at the same track, which has pretty much been the All Stars. The WoO series starts back up again March 3rd at Manzanita Speedway in Arizona, so they had to travel to the west coast anyway. The big money races are the ones that will be the most interesting to see which cars show up and which ones don't.

The NST Drivers Are Still In Control....

Danny Lasoski takes World of Outlaws feature win tonight at Manzanita Speedway. The points leader going into the event, Chad Kemenah, didn't make it out of the B main tonight! He started 17th and made it all the way to 5th....one spot out of transfer.

both of these groups have priced themselves out of many markets. forcing promoters to charge $35 and more for grandstand admission is just too much for alot of folks.. i know ,even as big of an open wheel fan as i am, is too much. last WOO show i went to was tri-city a couple years back, and there were no lead changes, kinser started up front and totally checked out, track condtions were absolutely horrible, and if it weren't for the electronic scoreboard, i would have had no idea who was running 2-5. i got in for free that night, so i can't complain tooooo much, but if i had to pay to get in, i would have been pi s s e d. art

Art...the last time I checked, everything is costing more these days. Gas prices, fast food, movies+popcorn, six flags tickets, go-cart tracks, concert tickets.......so, don't be picking on my racing series.:)

haahaa, BRR!!! i'm not picking on the WOO.i love sprint cars... truly i do. just stating what's been said before, by knowledgable folks like argabright, despain, and brad doty. even you gotta admit, sometimes the racing is worse than bad, and then you throw in those awful red flag fuel stops with 5 or 10 to go, it just makes you wanna scream. people expect a top notch quality show for their $$$,and often don't get it. i just stated my personal experience the last time i was at a WOO show. i bet alot of other people feel the same way. to be fair, i am sure there have been some awesome races. i just have seen way too many times that the only side-by-side action was when the leader was in lapped traffic. thanks, art. ps..... i think 6 flags costs too much, too. haahaa!!.

yep but a night at tony's palaceof speed in eaerl sept 42 bucks for 2 days of racing and 200 plus cars is priceless

Anyone want to make a bet that this guy is "the real dirthound"?

Hint: He's talking about late models at Eldora, and he can't spell worth a crap.;)

I'm just messing with ya....Yeah, you're right, but a lot of that was and is caused by the racers themselves. They get that "racer-vision", where the only side of things that they WANT to see is their own side. I don't mind spending the money to see races that provide years of good memories, but I too have a hard time digesting some of these "freight train" races for the amount of money spent.

Bigger softer tires, more aerodynamic body panels, 40 grand engines, 250 grand state-of-the-art haulers, top notch RV's, plane tickets for traveling across country....where does it all stop? Their quality of life has gone up, but the racing is really starting to suffer because of things like this. Everyone is just to damn equal out on the race track. Maybe this "split" will motivate the right people to start listening to the fans....or maybe not.:(

But you gotta admit....six flags is pretty neat.:D
