Baytown, TX "The Greatest Show On Dirt" will make their only Fall Texas appearance this coming Saturday as The World of Outlaws Sprint Series invades Houston Raceway Park for The Miller Lite Sprint Car Classic. This date will play a significant role in the 2004 World of Outlaws championship run as only four race dates remain on the one hundred event national schedule. "The King of the Outlaws" Steve Kinser from Bloomington, Indiana, holds a slight lead over Dover Missouri's Danny "The Dude" Lasoski as the outlaws' chase for the championship nears its conclusion.

Houston Raceway Park was the site of history this past March in Texas's only other 2004 World of Outlaws appearance as Kinser claimed an unprecedented milestone by claiming his 500th career series win.

Some of the other sprint car superstars entered for Saturday's Miller Lite Sprint Car Classic include Sammy Swindell (TN), Donny Schatz (ND), Craig Dollansky (MN), Jason Meyers (CA), Joey Saldana (IN), Daryn Pittman (OK), Kraig Kinser (IN), Jason Sides (TN), Paul McMahan (TN), Tim Kaeding (CA), Tim Shaffer (PA), Shane Stewart (OK), and female sensation Erin Crocker (MA).

NASCAR, too, plays a prominent role with the World of Outlaws as Tony Stewart owns the Danny Lasoski entry, and Dale Blaney, younger brother of NASCAR driver Dave Blaney, is expected to make his first start behind the wheel of the Wright Construction entry from California. The elder Blaney was a former World of Outlaws champion before beginning his NASCAR career. Drivers Kinser and Lasoski also currently compete in the IROC series and both have wins at the famed Talladega Super Speedway in Alabama.

This event is indeed the premier dirt track event of the year in Texas. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling promoter SLS Promotions at 815-344-2023 or Houston Raceway Park at 281-383-2666. General Admission tickets will be available at the gate on race day. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., grandstand gates at 4 p.m., with warm-ups scheduled for 6:30. Qualifying and racing will follow. Houston Raceway Park is located in Baytown, east of Houston off I-10, exit 798, then 3 miles south on SR 146, then less than a mile SE on FM 1405, then 1 1/2 miles NE on FM 565 to the raceway entrance. Thunder Bombers join the World of Outlaws on the event card.
