By Michael Moats Atomic Motor Speedway Knoxville, TN - Atomic Motor Speedway, the World’s Fastest 1/3-mile Dirt Track, hosts the World of Outlaws Late Model Series September 3-4. The Bonanza Produce/Oldies 106.7 100 will pay $15,000 to the winner of the World of Outlaws main event. The annual event has become a fixture in dirt late model racing by hosting one of that weekend’s big 100-lap events the last several years. This year, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series becomes part of the traditional Labor Day weekend activities. “We decided to make this a 2-night program because that’s what it’s been for many years”, said Atomic Motor Speedway owner Jim Varnell. “Fans from across the country look forward to this weekend and we want to give them another great 100-lap feature as we have in past years”, Varnell said.

The WoO LMS cars will take to the 1/3-mile, high-banked oval on Friday, Sept. 3 for qualifying and heat races to determine the top 16 starters for the feature event. Heat race winners will participate in the Fast Car Dash. The WoO LMS cars will return Sunday for consolation races to determine the remainder of the starting grid for the 100-lap feature. The highlight of the evening will be the Bonanza Produce/Oldies 106.7 100 with the winner collecting $15,000.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series features “The Dirty Dozen”, twelve of the biggest names in dirt late model racing. Scott Bloomquist, Billy Moyer, Rick Eckert, Steve Francis, Dale McDowell, Chub Frank, Dan Schlieper, Darrell Lanigan, Rick Auckland, Bart Hartman, Mike Balzano, and Clint Smith make up “The Dirty Dozen”. Those drivers, along with the many of the nation’s and area’s top drivers, will be at Atomic vying for the $15,000 winner’s prize. Top local drivers such as Patrick Duggan of Lenoir City, TN, Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Scott Sexton of Pigeon Forge, TN, and Brad Hall of Knoxville, TN, and current Atomic points leader Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN will be mixing it up with the Dirty Dozen and other top area and local drivers.
