The World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned Rumble on the River 50 presented by Thurston Spring Service, Inc at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway postponed last weekend due to rainy weather will be run this Saturday April 15th. The $10,000 to win, Rumble on the River 50 presented by Thurston Spring Service, Inc. will be in front of the SPEED cameras.

“It is one of the hardest things a promoter ever has to do, canceling the night before an event,” said Track General Manger Clarke Sawyer. “But after all is said and done we made the right call, as it rained the majority of the day and we would have never gotten in the race. Now we will regroup for this weekend and be ready for what we feel will be a stellar field of cars. With no Lucas Oil late Model or a MACS Series race scheduled for this weekend we hope to see a few extra cars competing in front of the SPEED cameras,” added Sawyer.

The entire program of World of Outlaws Late Models, Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Budweiser Modifieds has been rescheduled for this Saturday April 15th.

When the World of Outlaws Late Model Series drivers of Rick Eckert, Steve Francis, Chub Frank, Dale McDowell, Billy Moyer, Tim McCreadie, Brian Birkhofer, Dan Schlieper, Darrell Lanigan, defending race winner Clint Smith, John Blankenship, Josh Richards, Shane Clanton and rookie Eric Jacobsen roll into Virginia Motor Speedway they definitely will have their hands full with a strong contingent of regional and local dirt late model talent.

“This is going to be an awesome deal for the track, having the likes of Eckert, Frank and Francis along with the rest of the Outlaws back racing against some of the regions best local talent like Davey Johnson, Jeremy Miller, Gary Stuhler, Mike Balzano, Booper Bare and Sean Cosgrove. Heck, you just may be surprised at who might show up. It only adds up to more excitement for our fans,” added Sawyer.

Competitor gates for Saturday, April 15 will open at 12 Noon with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:00 with hot laps. Time Trials are expected to begin at 6:45pm. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: World of Outlaws Late Models (50 Laps), Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps);Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 Laps) and Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps). Late Model, Sportsman and Modified divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features only. Adult tickets are just $22, Senior and Military $20, Students 13 – 17 yrs old $15, Children 7 – 12 yrs old $10 and Children 6 and under free. Pit Passes will be only $25.

Fans can also check out the speedway’s website for a special $2 off coupon good on any Adult, Senior or Military ticket. That makes the Adult admission for this must see show only $20 and a senior or military ticket only $18.

“We are keenly aware of gas prices today and feel the need to offer our fans the opportunity to see the best drivers in the business at an affordable price, where else can you see the Outlaws for a $20 ticket?” commented Sawyer.
