CONCORD, N.C. — May 7, 2009 — On the eve of the first broadcast of the year, the World Racing Group announces that SPEED will again be the exclusive television partner for World of Outlaws racing in 2009. The schedule is built around five super-sized multi-hour events — three of them live — leading up to the World of Outlaws World Finals season finale.

“SPEED will continue to look for ways to work with the World Racing Group to best serve fans of World of Outlaws racing,” said Rick Miner, SPEED SVP of Production & Network Operations. “The big-event approach certainly has elevated the sport's presence on the network and we will continue to build on that success in 2009.”

The first World of Outlaws Late Model Series broadcast of 2009 airs at 8 p.m. Eastern on Friday, May 8. The broadcast team this year will include NASCAR and dirt racing veteran Ken Schrader as the color analyst alongside Shane Andrews with Sarah Jane Hunt delivering all of the fast-breaking news from the pits.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series team will feature Bobby Gerould calling the action and Sprint Car hall-of-famer Brad Doty providing the analysis with Andrews in the pits. Former World of Outlaws and NASCAR competitor Erin Crocker, the only woman to win a World of Outlaws A-main, will also work on several broadcasts for both series.

Combined with scheduled rebroadcasts of events, there will be nearly 60 hours of World of Outlaws racing on SPEED in 2009, beginning with Friday night's World of Outlaws Late Model Series Rumble on the River from Virginia Motor Speedway.

The first of five super-sized events will be the live broadcast of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Showdown at 8 p.m. Eastern on Friday, May 22, from The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway. A year ago, three-quarters of a million people tuned into SPEED to watch this event and saw the sold-out grandstands cheering the furious fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action from one of the world's premier dirt track racing facilities.

“Our partnership with SPEED has been rewarding and important to our growth,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. “In today's world it's more important than ever for our corporate partners, our teams and our promoters to reach our fans across the country, and SPEED with its more than 75 million viewers gives us that opportunity. We're also race fans and since SPEED is the television home for motorsports, it's only right that the best racing — World of Outlaws racing — is broadcast on SPEED.”

In addition to the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Showdown on May 22, four other super-sized events will be broadcast this season on SPEED. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series Firecracker 100 from Lernerville Speedway will air at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25; the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Kings Royal from Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway will air at 5 p,m. on Sunday, Aug. 9; the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series National Open from Williams Grove Speedway will air live at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3; and the World of Outlaws World Finals season-capper will air live at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7.
