World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Release 2009 Schedule

Orlando, FL— December 12, 2008—The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series released its 2009 schedule at the annual Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show in Orlando, Florida. The schedule has 84 race dates which begins in early February and concludes in early November, encompassing nearly 10 months of racing action.

The season will kick off with the 38th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida, February 6-8, with each of the three events paying $10,000 to win.

The series then heads west for a return to the half-mile at The Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Thursday, February 26.

The World of Outlaws then head to California, which will be the first of two visits to the Golden State in 2009, for an event at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville on Saturday, March 7.

The Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California returns as a World of Outlaws event in 2009 on March 13-14, followed by a two-day show at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare on March 20-21. The first West Coast visit of the season concludes on March 28 at the famed Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix.

The World of Outlaws will return to California in September for the 56th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway, which runs September 10-12.

Inaugural events in 2009 are set for Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Delaware on Wednesday, May 13 as well as Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota on Wednesday, August 19.

The World of Outlaws will return to a few tracks in 2009 that they have not competed at for a couple of years, including Lawrenceburg Speedway in Indiana, which was reconfigured in 2008 to a much bigger and faster 3/8-mile. The return to Lawrenceburg Speedway is set for June 5-6. The series will also return to Texas, the birthplace of the World of Outlaws for an event at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore on Friday, April 10 followed by a stop at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown on Saturday, April 11.

The annual “Month of Money” will kick off with the Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park in Ohio on Wednesday, July 15, followed by the famed Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway on July 17-18. The Kings Royal will again pay $50,000 to the winner this year. The series then heads to Pennsylvania for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday, July 21, followed by the Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26. The “Month of Money” wraps up with the inaugural two-day event at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri on Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, with the winner of the finale pocketing $20,000.

The first of two stops at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina will take place on Friday, May 22, with the Rite-Aid Outlaws Showdown.

Three of the most historic tracks in all of racing will host the World of Outlaws several times in 2009. Two separate visits to the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa are on tap, beginning with a one-day show on Saturday, May 2 and a two-day event on June 26- 27. Three separate stops at the legendary Eldora Speedway will highlight the 2009 schedule, with a two-day event on May 8-9, followed by the Kings Royal on July 17-18 and a single day race on September 25. Williams Grove Speedway will host the series three times, beginning on May 14-15, followed by the Summer Nationals on July 25-26 and the Morgan Hughes National Open October 2-3.

The series will return to Canada for the third consecutive season with a two-day event at Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario on July 28-29 and a visit to Castrol Raceway in Edmonton in Alberta on August 28-29.

The series annual trip through the Pacific Northwest will take the best sprint car drivers in the world to Skagit Speedway in Washington on September 4-5, followed by a visit to Grays Harbor Raceway in Washington on Monday, September 7, Labor Day and wraps up with a stop at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon on Tuesday, September 8.

A couple of traditional events have changed their dates, including the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway which will now be held on Saturday September 26, and the race at Eagle Raceway in Nebraska will take place on the Fourth of July.

A second date at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota has also been added to the slate. The series will visit the always racy high-banked ¼-mile on June 19, as part of the Duel in the Dakotas along with stops at Red River Valley Speedway and Nodak Speedway on three consecutive, and will then return to River Cities on August 21, followed by the second annual race at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, North Dakota.

Tracks that hosted the World of Outlaws in 2008 and will continue that trend in 2009, include: 34 Raceway in Iowa, Attica Raceway Park in Ohio, Charter Raceway Park in Wisconsin, Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin, Clay County Fair Speedway in Iowa, Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas, Huset’s Speedway in South Dakota, I-96 Speedway in Michigan, K-C Raceway in Ohio, Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York, Orange County Fair Speedway in New York, Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky, Riverside International Speedway in Arkansas, Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in New York, Tri-State Speedway in Indiana, U.S. 36 Raceway in Missouri and Virginia Motor Speedway.

The season will conclude with the third Annual VAULT World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway November 5-7.
