• Looking ahead to Sharon: On June 3, the World of Outlaws Sprint Series invades Dave Blaney’s Sharon Speedway. Blaney, one of the greatest racers in Outlaws history and winner of the 1995 season title, now competes in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series for Richard Childress Racing. Fans at Sharon for the Outlaws feature will have a chance to see Blaney’s Jack Daniels No. 07 Monte Carlo as well as the No. 3 Monte Carlo formerly driven by late legend Dale Earnhardt. Also, the track will have an Open Pit Party during intermission to allow all fans to walk into the pits. Blaney expects to be at Sharon Speedway after flying in from NASCAR qualifying at Dover International Speedway. “I’ll fly over from Dover after qualifying to catch the show,” Blaney said. “My car owner, Richard Childress, said he’d like to come watch the race, too, and we’ll be coming in one of his planes, so we’ll try to fill every seat. There are a lot of sprint car fans and former sprint car drivers in the garage, so you never know who may come over to the race with us.” For more details about the race, go to http://www.sharonspeedway.com or http://www.woosprint.com and see the race schedule.

• Race for a cause: The upcoming race June 22 at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., will feature not only the World of Outlaws Sprint Series, but also a celebrity late model race including drivers Danny Lasoski, NASCAR’s Tony Stewart and the NHRA’s Gary Scelzi. The event will support the Michael Ross Memorial Foundation, which donates its proceeds to the Bay Cliff Health Camp, a summer camp that offers a therapy center and outdoor recreation camp for handicapped children. Advanced Grandstand Reserve tickets are on sale now at Yeager Cycle (660) 826-2925 for $32. The day of the race Grandstand Reserve tickets are $34, General Admission is $32, children 6-13 are $10, and children 5 and younger are free.

• Measuring up: The race Friday at Sharon Speedway is on a 3/8-mile oval. The series has raced five times this season on tracks that size, at Pike County Speedway, Houston Raceway Park, Batesville Speedway, Outlaw Motor Speedway and 81 Speedway. Steve Kinser held off Brooke Tatnell to win at Pike County, Donny Schatz edged Steve Kinser at Houston, Kraig Kinser dominated at Batesville, Steve Kinser snuck past Jason Meyers late at Outlaw, and Daryn Pittman cruised to victory at 81 Speedway.

• Half-milers: The race Saturdy at Eldora Speedway is on an intimidating half-mile oval. Including preliminary features, the series has raced 13 times this year on half-mile circuits with Steve Kinser winning four times (Volusia, Eldora, Knoxville and Williams Grove), Craig Dollansky (Manzanita and Williams Grove) and Sammy Swindell (Eldora and Hagerstown) winning twice, and Kraig Kinser (Las Vegas), Donny Schatz (Las Vegas), Danny Lasoski (Knoxville), Jason Meyers (Granite City) and Jeff Shepard (Volusia) each winning once.

• Victory parade: Sammy Swindell earned his first A-feature victory of the season Saturday night at Hagerstown Speedway. Swindell also has a preliminary feature win April 8 at Eldora. Steve Kinser leads the way with nine victories, including a win Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway. Next on win list is Donny Schatz with three victories. Kraig Kinser won on back-to-back nights at Batesville Speedway and I-55 Raceway, and also has a preliminary feature win at Las Vegas. In Preliminary Features, Danny Lasoski has won twice, most recently April 29 at Knoxville Raceway and Joey Saldana won May 20 at Lernville.

• Looking back I: Last June at Rolling Wheels, Donny Schatz spoiled Steve Kinser’s 50th birthday when he passed Kinser with less than two laps to go for his first victory of the season. Schatz drove high in Turn 2 and took the checkered flag with 12 car-lengths to spare.

• Looking back II: Last June at Sharon Speedway, Danny Lasoski won his first World of Outlaws Sprint Series A-Feature of the season passing Joey Saldana early in the 20th lap and taking the checkered flag with half a straightaway to spare.

• Looking back III: Earlier this season, Steve Kinser took over the series lead when the World of Outlaws Sprint Series raced in a two-night event April 8-9 at Eldora Speedway.
