World of Outlaws Sprint Series At A Glance: The Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway

WHAT
•After nine-plus months and 67 total events, the World of Outlaws Sprint Series is set to wrap up a very competitive season that has seen 16 different drivers win A-Features. The Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be the backdrop on October 27-28, with the series awards banquet to follow on Sunday October 29. Donny Schatz leads the series into ‘ Sin City ’ on the strength of 16 A-Feature wins, including a very emotional victory last Saturday night at USA Race Park , that he dedicated to World of Outlaws founder Ted Johnson, who passed away last Friday evening.

WHEN
• On Friday at the Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway , pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with grandstand gates opening at 6 p.m. On-track activity will begin at 6:15 p.m.

• On Friday Round Three of the Snap-on® Pit Crew Challenge will take place at 2 p.m. in the pit area and is open to all fans.

• On Saturday at the Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with grandstand gates opening at 6 p.m. On-track activity will begin at 6:15 p.m.

He is solidly in the second spot heading into the season finale weekend. … Joey Saldana had a consistent weekend, finishing fifth last Friday night and following that up with a sixth on Saturday night, bringing him to total of 45 Top-10 finishes on the year. … Daryn Pittman won his first race career race at Manzanita last Friday. In addition to winning at the storied track in the desert, he has always won this season at the famed Williams Grove Speedway. He has five A-Feature wins on the season and sits fourth in series points. … Jac Haudenschild who holds the track record at Manzanita racked up two more Top-10 finishes, increasing his total on the year to 39. … Brooke Tatnell returned to action last weekend, after spending a couple of weeks in his native Australia with his father George who is battling cancer. He was running second at Manzanita before a shredded tire forced him to the work area. He worked his way back to finish eighth. On Saturday night, he finished in the runner-up spot, after making a late charge at eventual winner Donny Schatz. … Chad Kemenah who celebrated a birthday last weekend, continues to lead the battle for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award Presented by Maxim Racing and ButlerBuilt. He set fast time at Manzanita on Friday night and finished a very solid seventh on Saturday night at USA Race Park . … Terry McCarl is in the eighth spot in driver points, and sixth in car owner points. He was fourth on Friday night at Manzanita and backed that up with a third-place run on Saturday at USA Race Park . … Justin Henderson continues to hold the second spot in the rookie battle, and the ninth overall position in the championship point standings. He finished seventh on Friday night at Manzanita. … Jeremy Campbell is in the 10th spot in overall points and third in the rookie battle. He won a heat race at USA Race Park and finished in the Top-15. … Randy Hannagan is currently 11th in series points. He raced his way into the A-Feature at USA Race Park by winning the B-Main. … Dion Hindi finished just outside of the Top-10 at USA Race Park , which is one of the shortest trips of the season for native of New Mexico . … Becca Anderson turned in the fourth quickest lap in time trials at Manzanita, in only her second visit to the historic half-mile. She picked up a top-15 finish in the A-Feature. … Jason Martin, who missed the events in Arizona earlier this season due to an injury, had a solid 11th-place finish on Friday night and qualified for the A-Feature on Saturday night. … Brian Carlson turned in a consistent qualifying run at Manzanita and backed that up with a second place finish in his heat race, to qualify for the A-Feature. He is currently 15th in the season standings.
