QUOTABLE

With one of the tightest point battles in recent history unfolding for the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series race teams, the “Veterans Appreciation 100” at Jim Nier’s KC Raceway will undoubtably shake the championship point standings up. Virtually every event has seen position changes among the top 10 in the championship point standings. A fact not lost on the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series competitors. Competition has been the keyword through the first eleven events of the 2005 season.

Billy Moyer, driver of the No. 21 J&J Steel/Banner Valley Hauling/McCarthy’s One Hour Cooling and Heating C.J. Rayburn Race Cars/Pro Power Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On the tight championship points battle with the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series: “Yeah, it’s tight. They way they do the points system their not gonna let anybody get too far ahead. At one time I think I had 40 or 42 points or something like that for a lead. That was like having a 200 or 300 point lead it seemed like. But, that evaporated real quick too. We just need to stay consistent and see what happens. Like last year it came right down to the wire and I guess that’s what the fans like. We’ll just have to see what happens and try to stay out of trouble and finish all the races if we can.”

Darrell Lanigan, driver of the No. 29 Gotta Race/Bert Transmission Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Ford Taurus
On if he thinks the tight points battle with the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series will continue all season: “Unless somebody has a problem. It’ll take a couple of problems to really fall out of the top six or seven. I think it’s gonna be a pretty good championship race all the way to the end.”

Rick Eckert, driver of the No. 24 Raye Vest Excavating/J&J Steel Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Ford Taurus
On how competitive the season has been for the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series: “No, I have never seen it this tight this early before. It’s highly competitive. The way the point structure is it keeps everybody really tight in the points too. Ya know you look at the points and from like first to tenth or eighth or whatever its like 70 points. That’s incredible! We’re eleven races in and I think no ones going to get away. Different guys have won and some guys have won twice. Nobody’s really dominated and that’s a cool deal.”

Dale McDowell, driver of the No. 17M Larry Shaw Race Cars/J&J Steel/New Vision Graphics Rocket Chassis/Racetek Racing Engines Pontiac Grand Prix
On how competitive the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series has been so far in 2005: “Boy, hasn’t it been? The group that travels together all really have good equipment and good notes. Everybody is really, really close. The important thing is qualifying and positioning in the heat races and stuff like that. Then if you get lucky enough to win a heat then you have to go through that pill draw for the dash inversion. If things are going your way it’s a great night for ya’. If not, it can be a so-so night for ya’. But, it’s really competitive. That’s what makes it enjoyable. There’s different winners and no ones really dominated. So it’s not uncommon to win one night, run tenth, twelfth or something the next night or not even make the show even. But, that’s what makes it really competitive and that’s what its all about. With us going to all the different tracks and facilities with the different shapes and banking and size differences its challenging for us but we enjoy it.”

Steve Francis, driver of the No. 15 MOPAR Performance Parts/Valvoline Rocket Chassis/Gary Stanton Racing Engines Dodge Intrepid R/T
On how competitive the racing has been this season with the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series: “No, I’ve never seen it this competitive before. Anyone in the top ten can still win the thing. I’m sure if Shane (Clanton) hadn’t of had his shoulder problem he’d be right in the mix of it too. That’s eleven guys who have a real legitimate shot of winning this thing. We’re only 11 races into the season about a quarter of the way through the end of the season yet. Anything can still happen. Darrell’s having a really good year, Billy’s having a good year, Rick’s running good, McCreadie’s having an unreal breakout year, Dale’s running real good and so are Chub and the rest of the guys. Anyone can still win this thing.”

Tim McCreadie, driver of the No. 39 Sweetners Plus/A & C Speedworld,Inc. Rocket Chassis/C.C. Performance Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On how competitive the season has been with the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series: “No, I’ve never been with a series that has been this competitive. Ya look around and like the top ten in points are real tight in a pack. It’s just a testament to the guy’s on the series. These guys on this series are arguably the biggest and best bunch of guys the organization could group together. They come to race. You can’t have a few bad nights because your right behind the eight-ball as good as they are.”

Chub Frank, driver of the No. 1* Lester Buildings/All Star Performance/Corry Rubber Rocket Chassis/Custom Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On how tight the championship points are on the World Of Outlaws Stacker2® Late Model Series: “Definitely it’s tight and competitive. It’s a real tough crowd we’re racing against. Just like last night at Dakota when we dropped out. I haven’t really looked at the points but I’m sure we took a big hit. Dropping out of a race….., you can’t drop out of race with these guys. It’s just too tough. Everybody’s on their game right now and you slip just a little bit your losing points and its gonna be hard to gain ‘em back.”

Clint Smith, driver of the No. 44 JP Drilling/CSR Aluminum/Turkey Creek Snacks GRT Race Cars/Racetek Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On the intense competition with the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series: “Man, I tell you if you see any series this tight after this many races among the top ten I want to see it. I haven’t seen any other series seeing the top 9 or 10 cars separated by only 70 points. It’s a super, super year and I think everybody’s gonna see a big finish.”

Josh Richards, “Rookie of the Year” driver of the No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches/A-C-E Metal Works Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On how competitive the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series has been: “This is a tough deal. You got to be on the top of your game. If your off just a little bit your off a lot. We’re just working our way through the bad times and waiting for the good times to come.”

Dan Schlieper, driver of the Miller Bros. Coal Co./Hawkeye Trucking No. 9 C.J. Rayburn Race Cars/Pro Power Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On if he has ever seen such competition like that with the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series: “No. Everyone in this series is pretty stout. It’s a give and take deal where sometimes you run good and sometimes you don’t. Some guys have had problems with motors here and there but it seems like they bounce back and come back with a win. It’s been pretty competitive. Everyone’s running tough. There’s not much you can say about it other than it’s a pretty tough series.”

John Blankenship, driver of the No. 23 Busch Beer/Walker CAT Rocket Chassis/Custom Racing Engines Ford Taurus
On the strong competition of the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series: “It’s been unbelievable. Tim coming from last at Dakota proves that. These guys we race with are just awesome.”

Shane Clanton, driver of the No. 25 SAE Parts/RSDEnterprises,Inc. Rocket Chassis/Custom Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Clanton has been MIA for the past six World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series events after undergoing surgery May 9th to repair damage to his left shoulder rotator cuff. Clanton suffered a dislocation of the left shoulder Friday, April 29th during the running of the “ Advance Auto Parts Showdown at Sarvertown 50” held at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver,PA. Clanton hopes to be able to rejoin the the Series this weekend at Jim Nier’s KC Raceway for the “Veterans Appreciation 100”.
