The 2006 World of Outlaws Sprint Series season will launch a new era in
sprint car racing. DIRT MotorSports is looking forward to kicking it
off in style at Volusia Speedway Park during the 35th Annual
Winternationals.

Many current sprint car stars as well as those who will take over the
sport in the coming years comprise the World of Outlaws Mean 15. Those
racers are excited to put on a crowd-thrilling show at the renovated
half-mile speedplant in Barberville, Fla.

The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series starts the action
during Speed Weeks with back-to-back events Feb. 7-8 before the World
of Outlaws Sprint Series moves into the spotlight on Feb. 9-10.

The on-track action for the Outlaws might not begin until the sun goes
down on Feb. 9, but fans are encouraged to arrive early. Following a
media conference at 3 p.m. when drivers, owners and sponsors have the
opportunity to talk with the media and check out the all-new Mobile
Media Center, an autograph signing party will take place at 4:30 p.m.
at the west end of the track in the hospitality area.

Then, after what will most certainly be an exciting feature on the
first night of a season that will see these Mean 15 racers compete for
their share of nearly $6 million in purses and other prizes, fans are
encouraged to return to the hospitality area as The Outdoor Channel
cameras film another episode of “Elbows Up!” with hosts Johnny Gibson
and Brad Doty. Mean 15 racers Becca Anderson, Craig Dollansky, Jac
Haudenschild, Chad Kemenah, Jason Martin, Donny Schatz and Brooke
Tatnell are scheduled to appear.

There won’t be any time for rest that night, either, because the
Outlaws return at 2 p.m. on Feb. 10 to Volusia for a jump on the action
by competing in the Inaugural Mean 15 Kart Clash, where drivers will be
able to hang out with fans, sign autographs and take pictures as Mean
15 racers, DIRT officials and media members compete on Volusia’s
revamped kart track. Highlights will appear on The Outdoor Channel’s
coverage of the season-opening events at 8 p.m. Eastern on March 1.

“We are ready to race,” said Mean 15 racer Daryn Pittman, a native of
Owasso, Okla., who was one of the hottest drivers the final three
months of the 2005 campaign. “We are excited about DIRT’s motivation
and vision to bring a better show to the fans. We are also working with
the other teams to make sure the fans get more personal attention with
the teams and drivers.”

The All Stars return for events Feb. 11-12 before the Advance Auto
Parts Modified Super DIRT Series, UMP Modifieds, UMP Late Models and
World of Outlaws Late Models continue the action throughout the week.
In fact, 2005 World of Outlaws Late Model champion Billy Moyer and
recent Chili Bowl champion and 2004 World of Outlaws Late Model Series
Rookie of the Year Tim McCreadie were both winners in ’05 during
Volusia’s Speed Weeks and are gearing up to repeat that success.

The impressive lineup of drivers competing in the 2006 World of Outlaws
Sprint Series Mean 15 includes 2005 top-10 racers Craig Dollansky,
Donny Schatz, Daryn Pittman, Terry McCarl and Brooke Tatnell, along
with returning Outlaws stars Jac Haudenschild, Randy Hannagan and Dion
Hindi as well as the Woodring Racing team, which will include long-time
sprint car star Kenny Jacobs sharing driving duties with rookie Becca
Anderson.

Many of sprint car racing’s newest stars also are featured in the 2006
Mean 15, including Jeremy Campbell, who comes to the Outlaws after a
successful run with the All Star Circuit of Champions series; Brian
Carlson, who is a respected long-time racer and former World of Outlaws
competitor; Justin Henderson, who has starred as a weekly racer at
historic Knoxville Raceway and Huset’s Speedway; Chad Kemenah, who
earned his first Outlaws victory in 2005 while also capturing his
fourth consecutive All Star title; Jason Martin, who is only 23 but
already has 57 wins in his career with several series; and Ricky
Stenhouse Jr., who at 18 already is a former 360 sprint car driver of
the year with victories in the USCS and ASCS.
