Yates Wins Stormpay.com Wrs East Region With 602 Engine

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Logan Yates of Delta, AL won the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region Championship in economical fashion. Yates turned heads by winning a major dirt late model championship with a $3,000 engine.

Yates drove The Bargain Barn TSR #5 dirt late model to nine wins and 17 top five finishes in 19 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series races with a GM Performance 602 Crate Engine under the hood. The steel-head 602 engine gives up 50 horsepower, but has a 50-pound with break over the aluminum-head GM Performance 604 Crate Engine.

The combination worked well for Yates at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL where he was also the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Championship. Yates also has success in the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour where he had one top five finish and three top ten finishes in five starts. Yates also earned points at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL.

Yates will be honored for his StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region Championship at the Annual StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series Awards Banquet in Tampa, FL on December 5. Yates will receive a cash award, a new GM Performance 604 Crate Engine, and a new C.J. Rayburn Chassis.

Yates is also one of 120 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series drivers invited to the 2nd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Fall Nationals Invitational Race this Friday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS. In addition to being invited to participate in the $2,000-to-win 40-lap Fall Nationals, Yates will also participate in two other special events over the weekend.

The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series South Region Champion will be one of 18 drivers eligible to participate in the Race of Regions that features the top six drivers from each of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Regions. Yates will also be eligible to compete in the Race of Champions for the 16 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Champions.

The 2nd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Fall Nationals Invitational Race will take place at Columbus Speedway this Friday night with time trials, heat races, and a 40-lap main event. The Race of Regions and Race of Champions heat races will be contested on Friday afternoon, with the feature races held on Saturday afternoon prior to the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event.

Columbus Speedway will host an open practice session this Thursday night, and there will be also be a practice session for drivers not invited to the Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals Invitational Race on Friday, November 23 in preparation for the 40-lap $3,000-to-win StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on Saturday night.
