would 1& 11sixtenth od pipe be OK for gage in a minnistock? wall is 1eight thick. an what is the best way to notch pipe for welding? rockin racier

You should use tubing not pipe. Tubing will bend where pipe will break. DOM tubing is best. Nothing less than 0.095 wall thickness for the main rollcage.

thank for the reply . little green so what does dom stand for? crom molly tubing?
DOM means; Drawn Over Mandrel This is a better grade of tubing but not necessarily Chrome Moly. You probably do not want to use chrome moly if you are new at building a cage. You will only need to use a mild steel tubing for your project. 1 5/8" OD .095 wall thickness

1 1/2, 1 5/8, or 1 3/4 .095 wall tubing will all be acceptible, and electrick weld tubing is plenty good for racing use. DOM is just a lot more expensive. I have never seen tubing split on the seam, it bends or rips about 1/4" from the welds. Stay away from chromolly.
