Lebanon, Mo- The stars of the O’Reilly Mid-America Racing Series (MARS) will once again invade the high banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway this Saturday night August 14, 2004 for a 40-lap $3,000 to win showdown. This will be the final tune up for the MARS drivers before the $10,000 to win 2nd Annual Fall Shootout on September 24-25.

Terry Phillips won the last MARS race at I-44 on July 17, 2004 in thrilling fashion, taking the lead away from Jeff Taylor on the next to last lap after a several lap battle with Taylor for the win.

Since his dramatic win, Phillips has been dominant; winning three of the four races ran since the win, with his worst finish being a second place. The hot streak that Phillips has been on has propelled him to a 10-point lead over second place Wendall Wallace.

Along with Phillips and Wallace, former track champions, Bill Frye and Brad Looney will be on hand. Lebanon’s own Brandon McCormick will return to his hometown, looking for his first MARS win after a solid top ten finish in the July race.

Many local drivers will also be on hand to try their shot at the big boys, including point leader Darrell Mooneyham and second in points Lebanon’s Brian Schutt.

The Super Stocks, Modifieds, and Bombers will also be on hand with bonus money added in for their non-points race.

Gates are scheduled to open at 5:00 pm at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway, with hot laps set for 6:45 and racing at 7:30. The track is located 6 miles northeast of Lebanon on I-44 to exit 135 (Sleeper exit). Go north to outer drive, then west 1.1 miles on historic Route 66 (outer road).

Adult tickets are $15.00 and junior tickets are $5.00. Tier parking is $20.00 for adults, and $5.00 for juniors. Pit passes are $30.00.
