Lebanon Mo - Another night of racing is in the books at the high banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway.
In the late model division Darrell Mooneyham and Brian Schutt picked up the heat race wins. The field lined up heads up after the number 1 pill was drawn. Brian Schutt took the early lead with Darrell Mooneyham in 2nd. The red flag came out on lap 6 for Reid Millard spinning in turn 4. As the field restarted it was Lebanon driver Brandon McCormick taking the lead on lap 8 with Schutt, Mooneyham and Ware following behind. After having trouble in the heat race Will Vaught had climbed his way up to 6th by lap 12. When the checkered flag dropped it was McCormick picking up his 1st feature win at the I-44 Speedway. Dave Ware was 2nd with Schutt, Vaught and Mooneyham finishing out the top 5.
In the modified division heat race winners were Kenneth Cox, Fayetville AK, and Steve Picou, High Ridge MO. In feature action Steve Martin jumped out to take the early lead as Erik Maggard was working his way through the field. On lap 7 the yellow waved as Maggard took the lead from Martin followed by Justin Newman and Steve Picou. After working his way through the pack point leader Eric Hudson would spin in turn 4, retireing for the night and bringing out the caution. With 4 laps remaining Erik Maggard was able to hold on for the win. Steve Picou finished a close 2nd with Justin Newman, Don Luna and Doug Crider rounding out the top 5.
With a good field of Factory Stocks on hand Robbie Bryant, Charly Reed and Kevin Brown picked up heat race wins. It was Gary Green taking the lead until caution came out on lap 5 for Scott Symmonds and Charley Reed. When the green waved again,it was Kevin Brown leading the remainder of the 15 lap feature. Gary Green, Steve Schultz, Tyson Troutman, and Matt Miller your top 5 finishers.
In the Super Stock class it was Jason Otto grabbing the heat race win. In the feature Ben Newell held the lead from green to checkered as point leader Larry Prewitt retired his car to the pits after having mechanical troulbe. Jason Otto finished 2nd with Dave Bozich, Terry Green and Sam Petty the top 5.
In the Bomber class only 2 points separate the top 2, KC Prettyman and Justin Foust. Heat race winners were Derrick Peterson and David Hendrix. With no cautions in the bomber race Lonnie Henderson jumped out to take the lead with Donnie Jackson and David Hendrix close behind. With 3 different race leaders it was Derrick Peterson taking the lead on lap 8 and picking up his 1st ever feature win. 2nd went to Hendrix with Foust, Henderson and Knutdson finishing in the top 5.
In the Sprint car division Scott Wedelstadt picked up the heat race win. In the 12 lalp feature Joe Todd took the early lead with Wedelstadt and Compton following his tracks. With the leaders getting in lap traffic quickly Clint Todd, Eric Todd and Wedelstadt battle for the 2nd spot. In the end it was dad Joe Todd picking up the win over sons Clint Todd and Eric Todd. Wedelstadt and Compton finished out the top 5.
I-44 will be back in action next week with Fan Apprecition Night. You can pick up your discount tickets at McDonlads in Lebanon. The drivers will be seeing a night of racing with double points. Gated open at 5:00 with racing at 7:30.
