Lebanon, Mo.- After mother nature took the victory on Fan Appreciation Night last weekend, nearly 100 cars checked in to the pits, including 21 Late Models in search of a victory on Labor Day Weekend.
Dave Ware started on the pole of the Late Model feature and led the first seven laps. Caution waved on lap 6 for Leroy Johnson spinning in turn 4, with Looney working his way up to fourth after starting in the 10th position. Looney took over the lead on lap eight and led the remainder of the race as it stayed green the rest of the way. Looney took home his 5th victory of the year at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway. The very happy Looney thanked all the fans for their support in victory lane, after a season full of bad luck for him. The race for second was heated as Will Vaught, Dave Ware and Shane Essary battled for the spot the last half of the race. Vaught held them off for second with Essary, Ware and Darrell Mooneyham the top 5.
Dan Wohnoutka took the lead on the opening lap of the modified feature as soon as the green flag dropped and began to try to pull away from the field. While Wohnoutka was leading the battle for second became very heated between Jason Meadors and James Hartman. The two got together after and early caution which sent Hartman to the rear of the field. Meadors took the lead from Wohnoutka after the restart and tried to get away from last years track champion Erik Maggard. Maggard came on strong, and caught up to Meadors and passed him on the way to the win on lap 17. Point leader Eric Hudson would follow Maggard around Meadors, with Lebanon’s Jamie Ragland and Picou rounding out the top five.
14 cars took the green flag for the Super Stock feature and to know ones surprise, Larry Prewitt made it victory number 14 on the season. Fred McAdams set the pace with Shawn Danuser leading the 1st lap. Yellow waved on lap eight for debris as the top 2 tangled for position. After starting in the 6th row inside Steve Morton began moving his way up the field. After battling with McAdams for several laps, Prewitt took the lead on lap eight. McAdams held on to the second position giving Prewitt a good run until the 32 of Morton grabbed the spot. Prewitt cruised to the victory with Morton holding on for second only to have it taken away for being light on the scales Ben Newell falls into second, third to Jason Otto with Rick Brown and Dave Bozich rounding out the top 5.
The factory stock feature rolled out 18 cars strong with Steve Price jumping out to take the early lead with Matt Miller and Ward Fredrick Jr. following close behind. The leaders got into lapped traffic early with Michael Maggard using that to his advantage to take the lead on lap four. Caution waved on lap nine, as Schultz spun coming off of turn two collecting Lake Mooneyham. Mooneyham would retire for the night with Schultz going to the rear. When the green waved it was Maggard leading the remaining laps to take home the feature win with Price, Miller, Tim Riffle and Jordan Holloway the top 5.
The bomber took to the track for their A-feature with point leader Justin Foust taking the early lead swapping spots with Lonnie Henderson. K.C. Prettyman took over the lead on lap five and never looked back taking the win and the point lead from Foust along with it. Rodney Jones, Henderson, David Hendrix and Brandon Knutdson rounded out the top 5.
In the pro4 class Lonnie Muhlbauer picked up the heat win along with the feature win. John Ryan was 2nd, Mike Thompson 3rd.
Don’t Forget Fan Appreciation Night will also be this Saturday night along with Double Points for all classes. Gates will open at 5:30 with Races at 7:30 sharp this Saturday night.
