(LASALLE, ILLINOIS) The cars and stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series will invade the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois this Saturday
evening, July 30. The $10,000 to win ‘Illinois Valley Challenge’ this
Saturday evening will mark the second time that the Lucas Oil Series has
invaded the 1/4-mile, high-banked oval this season. Back in May, Menomonie, Wisconsin’s Jimmy Mars picked up the $10,000 payday in the ‘Jeff’s
Enginemasters Spring Shootout’ at LaSalle after coming from the fourteenth
starting spot and dueling Donnie Moran, Don O’Neal, and a host of others.
The pit gates will open at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday evening, while the
grandstands will be open to the public at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying for the
Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will begin at 6:30 p.m. and racing will
start at 7:30 p.m. Along with the Dirt Late Models, the Midwestern Late
Models and the Street Stocks are also on the card. Pit passes for this
exciting event will be $35.00. Adults will be admitted into the grandstand
area for $25.00, while skybox seats are $30.00. Children aged eleven and
under will be admitted FREE with a paying adult.
The 2005 edition of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series can be deemed a
success so far with fourteen different winners in the twenty-two events held
this year.* Don O'Neal of Martinsville, Indiana is the current Lucas Oil
Series point leader.* O'Neal also has the most wins with seven victories
this year.* Tied for second place in points are Donnie Moran of Dresden,
Ohio and Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida. Pearson won last
year’s version of the ‘Illinois Valley Challenge’ at LaSalle. Matt Miller
of Waterville, Ohio and Scott James of Lawrenceburg, Indiana round out the
top five in the point standings.* James is also leading the "Rookie of the
Year" point’s battle heading into the weekend.
