The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads to the Volunteer State of Tennessee this Sunday Night, September 4 with a special Labor Day Weekend of racing action at the Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series was originally scheduled to visit "The Taz" back in May of this year but was rained out. There will be a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series this Sunday Night with Oval Craft Racing Aluminum Designs Time Trials, VP Fuels Makin' Power Heat Races, Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno and PPM Racing Products B-Mains and the "Citizens Bank 75" main event paying $10,000 to win and $700 to start.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series continues its impressive racing action as witnessed by the just recently completed 5th Annual Bluegrass Classic at Bardstown, KY where the winner, Scott Bloomquist started 15th, second place finisher, John Gill started 10th and third place runner, Earl Pearson, Jr. came from the 16th starting spot.
After 26 races this year there have been 16 different winners on the competitive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Tour. As the points race heats up even hotter heading into the September 4th showdown at Tazewell Speedway, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN holds a 125 point lead over Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. Dream Winner, Matt Miller of Waterville, OH still sits third in points followed by "The Million Dollar Man" Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH. Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN is fifth in points and currently leads the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series "Rookie of the Year" standings.
The rest of the top ten in the points standings are Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN, Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV, Brady Smith of Solon Springs, WI, Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA and Terry English of Benton, KY.
At Tazewell Speedway on Sunday the pit gates will open at 3:30 pm with the main grandstand gates opening at 4:00 pm. There will be a special autograph session for the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series beginning at 5:00 pm.
