Pevely, MO (June 30, 2007) I-55 Raceway dodged the rain showers again this week and 121 racecars packed the pit area. In the U.M.P. DIRTcar Late Model division, Bryan Collins dominated the last half of the event after early challenger Craig Smith tangled with a lapped car. Collins had pulled out to the lead early in the event, but Smith closed in as they worked lapped cars. Smith dove under Collins going into turn three on lap fifteen and took the lead but as he exited turn four he made hard contact with the car of Ed Dixon as he tried to put him a lap down and Smith's car got airborne and went over the hood of Dixon's machine which sent Smith into the front stretch wall and Dixon spinning into the inside wall. Collins would pretty much go unchallenged the rest of the way, although Tim Manville made a hard charge through the field into second place but he couldn't get close enough to challenge Collins for the win. Manville, who started near the back of the twenty-two car field worked traffic perfectly as he passed car after car enroute to his second place finish. Dave Jumper had his best run of the season as he took the third spot, Brian Dively crossed the line fourth and Kyle Steffens completed the top five.
In the U.M.P. DIRTcar Modified division, "MADDOG" Mark Miner of Arnold, MO won his first feature of the 2007 season at I-55 Raceway. Miner led all twenty-laps of the main event, but had to hold off the challenges of Tim Hill and then Bobby Bittle. Hill battled with Miner for most of the event, but after a caution with three laps to go, Bittle sped past Hill and worked on Miner the final two laps. However, Miner proved too strong and claimed the victory. Bittle crossed the line in second with Hill third. Ray Walsh, who had won two previous features in a row at I-55 Raceway took the fourth spot with Ray Wagner finishing fifth.
Troy Naeger claimed the U.M.P. DIRTcar Sportsman main event. Naeger battled with Kent Nations early on, but the two made contact on lap seven and Nations got the bad end of the contact as both left side tires on his car were flattened. Jeff Herzog made a late race challenge on Naeger but came up short and had to settle for the second position. Troy Medley crossed the line in third although the rear-end almost came completely out from under his car as he crossed the start-finish line. Medley narrowly avoided hitting the wall going into turn one after his mechanical woes. Jimmy Cummins took the fourth spot with Ronnie Bader completing the top five.
Chris Fisher won the U.M.P. DIRTcar Pro 4 Stock main event. Gary Price took the second spot with Trey Harris finishing third.
