Pontoon Beach, IL (April 17, 2009) Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, Iowa claimed the $10,000 Frostbuster 50 victory at Tri-City Speedway! Birkhofer started on the outside of the front row but fell back to third at the drop of the green flag while third place starting Will Vaught took the lead on lap one and led the first seven laps. However, Birkhofer soon found a fast line around the 3/8 mile speedway and moved past Vaught for the lead and dominated the final 43 laps.
The event was slowed by a 35-minute red flag condition when Jason Feger clipped the concrete wall exiting turn four with his right rear which then turned his car head on into the front stretch wall. Feger's car got into the catch fence which then required track crews to replace three fence poles. No one was injured in the crash and the action resumed.

Scott James would wrestle the second spot away from Vaught once the action got going, but James wasn't able to mount a serious threat to Birkhofer for the lead. Pole sitter Don O'Neal would finish fourth behind Vaught while Chris Simpson rounded out the top five.

The U.M.P. DIRTcar Modified feature was one that will be remembered for a long time! There were fifty U.M.P. DIRTcar Modifieds that signed in to compete and Chad Kinder of Newton, Illinois had to win the B-Main Feature event just to qualify for the A-Main event. That had Kinder starting seventeenth in the A-Main Feature and most didn't even have him factoring in for the victory. Pole sitter Jared Landers of Blackwell, Arkansas took the lead at the drop of the green flag and successfully held off the challenges of Randy Korte, Ray Walsh and Jeff Leka as they battled for the lead for the first twenty-five laps of the thirty lap A-Main. However, it was Kinder that was charging through the field picking off cars lap after lap and then reeling in the top four as they battled for the top spot. Kinder would take the lead on lap twenty-six and pull away to let the others battle for second. Korte would get the second spot while Leka took third. Walsh would cross the line in fourth while Landers slipped all the way back to fifth on the final lap.

Billy Faust of Highland, Illinois led all twenty laps of the U.M.P. DIRTcar Pro Late Model main event as he simply dominated the field. As the event went all twenty laps without a caution, Faust lapped much of the field and had nearly a half track lead on second place finisher Bobby Dauderman. Mark Oller would finish third while Rylan Dagg took fourth. Casey Montague would round out the top five. Bobby Martintoni would claim the STLRacing.com Hard Charger Award of $200 as improved his finishing position the most spots from where he started as he finish eleventh after starting nineteenth!
