Dream XV: One of the biggest dirt Late Model races in the entire world takes place at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, this weekend (June 5-6). The UMP DIRTcar Racing-sanctioned ‘Dream XV’ which challenges the best DIRTcar Late Model drivers with 100 laps on the Ohio oval’s highbanks for a cool $100,000 first-place prize.

The star-studded ‘Prelude to the Dream’ scheduled for Wed., June 3, was postponed by rain until Sept. 9, but that doesn’t mean fans won’t get a taste of NASCAR this weekend at Eldora. Track owner and NASCAR star Tony Stewart has entered a Rocket Chassis-prepared car to compete in the weekend’s action.

Stewart will find plenty of competition on the half-mile this weekend, as over 80 cars already pitted on the Eldora Speedway grounds as of Friday morning.

Other Dream Week festivities included the crowning of a new Miss Eldora Speedway on Thursday. Abby Hoffert won the honor, taking the place of retiring Queen Erin Moore.

Hell Tour: UMP DIRTcar Late Model drivers will ignite the 21st edition of the Summer Nationals tour on June 11 at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway.

Two-time and defending series champion Dennis Erb Jr. is looking to continue his dominance of the grueling month-long tour, which pits man and machine against on the best dirt tracks in six Midwestern states. The teams will travel almost 5,000 miles from track-to-track during the race-filled tour.

Erb by no means is assured of his third title in three years with such young guns as Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., and Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., among the names who can potentially challenge him. Feger enters the Summer Nationals riding high after garnering his first-ever World of Outlaws Late Model Series win on May 24 at Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, Wis., while Shirley was last year’s Summer Nationals runner-up to Erb.

Drivers will do battle for more than half-million dollars purse in prize and money during their 31-day trek across the Midwest.

DIRTcar NorthEast:

Super DIRTcar Series Double Dip: The Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series takes a unique angle this weekend with a doubleheader on tap for Saturday (June 6) and Sunday (June 7).

The ground-pounding big-block Modified stars will first take to the track at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, N.Y., on Sat., June 6, for a 100-lap tour event presented by Greylock Federal Credit Union and Abele Tractor. A $6,000 top prize will be on the line.

Nicknamed the ‘Valley of Speed,’ the high-banked, half-mile track has played host to some of the fastest racing on the circuit to date and offers tour regulars stiff competition with the likes of regular J.R. Heffner and Mark Flach Jr., who were crowned co-track champions last season.

Gates for the event will open at 5 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m. General admission will be $15 for adults with children 11 and under only $2. Reserved seating is available for $16.

Night 2 of the doubleheader weekend on Sun., June 7, throws a unique twist at the stars of the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series as they head to the half-mile pavement oval of Airborne Speedway in Plattsburg, N.Y., for the first asphalt race in 17 years for the big-block tour. The track was originally dirt when it first opened in 1954, was transformed to asphalt, back to dirt, and then finally back to asphalt in 1990. It will host a 100-lap ‘Battle of Plattsburgh’ presented by Hynes Electric and Northline Utilities.

Grandstands at Airborne Speedway will open at 3 p.m. with race time at 6 p.m. Adult admission is $22 with kids from age 6-12 being only $5 and children 5 and under admitted at no charge.

More information can be found online at www.superdirtcarseries.com as well as both track sites located at www.lebanonvalley.com and www.airborneparkspeedway.com.

DIRTcar Western Region:

Sprint Country Invasion: Marysville (Calif.) Raceway Park plays host to the Western Allstars DIRTcar Late Model Series this Saturday (June 6). The banked, quarter-mile oval that commonly features sprint cars as its feature class will give way to the full-fenders racers that are the ‘Best in the West,’ hosting a 30-lap A-Main with a $2,000 top prize posted.

“I’m very excited indeed to get back to Marysville,” said DIRTcar Western Region Director Chris Morgan. “The way our racing has been, as well as our crowds, I expect nothing less than to give the fans another great show.”

Current Western Allstars points leader Bobby Hogge IV of Salinas, Calif., leads the strong contingent of Western Allstars racers to Marysville. Among the expected drivers is A.J. Kirkpatrick of Castroville, Calif., who won last year’s WAS show at the northern California track. Kirkpatrick might not have an edge most would think in returning to the NorCal oval, however, as it’s been lengthened and widened after concerns that it was too tight and narrow.

SouthWest DIRTcar Late Models at USA: Every time the Southwest DIRTcar Late Models have invaded USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz., this season there has been an oh-so familiar face in front of them as the winner at the end of the night: current point leader Lonnie Parker Jr. This trend may however be in danger as fans of the series witnessed back-to-back triumphs by Brad Williams at Canyon Raceway Park in Phoenix when the tour last ran on May 23-24.

Will points leader Parker’s streak continue at USA Raceway, or will the second-ranked Williams step up his game yet again to end Parker’s dominance of the Tucson oval? Find out this Saturday (June 6) at USA Raceway, which opens its gates at 5 p.m. and kicks off racing action at 7 p.m.
