Pevely, MO (August 15th, 2009) A large field of 114 racecars filled the pit area in the four divisions for the 2nd Annual Jim Woodrum Memorial presented by Michael Woodrum RE/MAX Realty. Randy Korte of Highland, Illinois was in a class of his own in the UMP DIRTcar Super Late Model division. The twenty-five lap main event went the entire distance caution-free and Korte finished the event with well over a half-track lead over second place and had all except the second through fifth place finishers at least one lap down. Korte exited turn four to take the checkered flag as the second through fifth place competitors were entering turn one after taking the white flag. However, the battle for second place was outstanding as Dylan Sharp had his best outing ever in his young career. Sharp and Jeff Beyers had an insane battle for the second spot as they swapped the position on many occassions throughout the event. That battle was essentially a four car battle as Tim Ratajczyk and Ed Dixon got into the mix during the latter half of the race and the four had a great race between themselves as they manuevered through lapped traffic. Sharp would get the second spot with Beyers third, Ratajczyk fourth and Dixon fifth.

Tim Hancock of Mt. Olive, Illinois claimed his second straight UMP DIRTcar Modified main event. Hancock fended off the early challenges of pole sitter Ray Walsh and pulled away to a comfortable lead, leaving another great battle for the second spot. Rusty Griffaw, Mark Miner and Ray Walsh had a great battle brewing for second while two serious contenders were making there way to the front after starting deep in the field. Randy Korte and Ricky Horton were dicing through traffic as they raced toward the front. As the laps began to wind down, Korte and Horton were challenging Griffaw, Miner and Walsh for the positions in the top five. With just three laps remaining, Korte tried to go in the middle of Miner and Walsh entering turn one and Korte’s right front just got into the left rear of Walsh’s machine sending Korte’s car spinning into turn one. A caution would reset the field and Korte’s night was done with flat right front. On the restart, Hancock once again pulled away while Griffaw and Miner battle for the second and Walsh and Horton battled for the fourth spot. As the took the checkered flag, it was Hancock, Griffaw, Miner, Walsh and Horton making up the top five positions. Ken Rumble had a stellar run through the field as well, taking the sixth spot after starting ninteenth.

Troy Medley made a return to I-55 Raceway in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman division and topped a field of forty-one cars as he claimed the main event. Medley, who has numerous feature wins over the years at I-55 Raceway in the Sportsman division, had only made a couple of appearances in the 2009 racing season. But Medley was on top of his game as he used the high side to over take early leader Jason Keller and proceeded to power his way to a convincing victory. Keller had another strong run and took the second spot. Dave Armstrong had another great run as he came home in the third position. Ronnie Bader took the fourth spot with Brad Paquet completing the top five. The feature event went all fifteen laps caution free and only two of the twenty four cars failed to finish.

Mike McGinnitey took over the ride normally piloted by Chris Fisher in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stock division and posted a victory in his first ever attempt in the Pro 4 Stock division. McGinnity, who started seventh, quickly worked his way to the front and stormed away to the win. Trey Harris took the second spot with Jason Crump roaring through the field to finish third after start dead last. Jacob Buechting took the fourth spot with his sister Jessica Buechting finishing fifth. Their mom and dad, Jackie and Gerald Buechting finished sixth and seventh.
