All Star Circuit of ChampionsSYLVANIA, Ga. (2-3-11) By Brian Liskai -Remnants of a huge storm that dumped snow and ice on the Midwest earlier in the week also caused the postponement of the season opening feature for the O’Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars and Late Models Thursday at Screven Motor Speedway.

The All Stars will now kick off the 28th Annual Winter Nationals with a two-day event Friday and Saturday at Ocala Speedway in Ocala, Florida, before wrapping it up Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 9 and 10 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida.

The feature will be made up as part of a double-header on Wednesday, Nov. 2 right before the World Finals in near-by North Carolina. The night will include a $3,000 to win show plus the $10,000 to win make-up feature. The All Star Late Models will also compete in the Nov. 2 event for a $10,000 to win show.

There were 24 outstanding sprint car drivers ready to do battle Thursday with 2010 Ohio Sprint Speedweek champion David Gravel posting fast time in Kistler Engines Qualifications. It was the first time in the history of Screven Motor Speedway that sprint cars had taken to the clay oval.

Danny Smith, back behind the wheel of a sprint car since a horrendous crash during Ohio Sprint Speedweek left him with injuries to his back, claimed the first heat race win. Danny Lasoski, driving his own sprint car, took heat #2 with 2010 Pennsylvania Speedweek Champion Greg Hodnett   who is with a brand new team in 2011   claiming the third heat victory. Three time All Star champion Dale Blaney blasted to the final heat victory.

Just as the feature event was getting ready to hit the track, the skies opened up.

Blaney and Terry “TMac” McCarl will comprise the front row of the $10,000 to win make up in November.
