USMTS COMP Cams Engine Builder of the YearMEMPHIS, Tenn. (Feb. 5) ā€“ For the fourth year in a row in 2011, engine builders and the drivers in the USMTS Caseyā€™s General Stores National Tour will once again be rewarded for their efforts by COMP CamsĀ®.

The COMP CamsĀ® Engine Builder of the Year Award was created at the start of the 2008 campaign to recognize the masters of the horsepower-making craft whose dedication, hard work and unparalleled expertise propel the mud-slinging USMTS Modifieds around America’s finest dirt ovals.

ā€œCOMP CamsĀ® is very excited about the contingency program we have planned for the 2011 USMTS season,ā€ said Chris Douglas, Vice President of Marketing for COMP CamsĀ®. ā€œAs is a company of racers ourselves, we understand just how much racers depend on this type of support.

ā€œWe are fortunate to be in a position to be able to give something back to the racers and the racing community who use our products. We are also excited about sponsoring the USMTS Engine Builder of the Year competition, and we look forward to seeing a great field of racers this year.ā€

COMP CamsĀ® will offer a three-pronged program which will benefit both drivers and engine builders.

At the conclusion of the 2011 racing season, COMP CamsĀ® will dole out awards to the top five engine builders in the COMP CamsĀ® Engine Builder of the Year standings.

For the drivers, the top five in points at the conclusion of the Hunt for the USMTS Caseyā€™s General Stores National Championship will be recognized, along with the top three in the final rakings of each region.

Additionally, COMP CamsĀ® will also be a cash contributor to the points funds for the USMTS Caseyā€™s General Stores National Tour.

To be eligible for the nearly $8,000 in contingency awards, each competitor must possess a USMTS license and display the approved COMP CamsĀ® decal at each USMTS event with no competing valve train or cam company decals.

The COMP CamsĀ® Engine Builder of the Year competition was too close to call throughout the course of the 2010 season, but when the dust settled on the final event it was Mullins Race Engines of Mt. Olive, Ill., that claimed the coveted title.

The showdown for the top powerplant producers culminated with the 12th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., Sept. 24-26, which saw more than 100 of the nationā€™s top drivers in action with Mullins and Sputā€™s Racing Engines of Owatonna, Minn., tied atop of the rankings going into the final night of competition.

In a nail-biter that came down to the final lap, Mullins emerged as the seasonā€™s COMP CamsĀ® Engine Builder of the Year thanks to Ryan Gustinā€™s runner-up finish in the main event as Mullins won the award by a single point and ended a two-year reign for Sputā€™s.

In all, 82 different engine builders scored points in the 2010 COMP CamsĀ® Engine Builder of the Year competition.

For more than 32 years, the COMP CamsĀ® mission has never changed: to produce the highest-performing products possible, provide customers with superior service, and to lead the industry in technological development. While the COMP Performance Groupā„¢ has grown to multiple companies and hundreds of employees, we still retain the competitive spirit and desire to be the very best that has positioned COMP CamsĀ® as the absolute leader in valve train components.

COMP CamsĀ® has never forgotten that performance is defined by results ā€“ both at the track and on the street.

The integration of research, engineering and development at COMP CamsĀ® consistently proves itself by out-performing the competition.
