POWRiThe newly labeled Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series will feature the most competitive racing in the country and is known to draw open wheel racing’s top drivers. The highly organized series includes attractive attributes such as exciting circuits, sell-out co-sanctioned events, fierce competition, and a collective average of the largest purses in Midget racing.

The fastest growing midget series is often promoted as “joint events” with other top performing organizations like the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series. These co-sanctioned dates provide the exciting sport of Midget racing an opportunity to compete at prestigious venues such as Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway and the Junction Speedway during Nebraska’s Speedweek. Another prominent event, with $100,000 in purses winnings is the Speedway Motors Midget Money week at Solomon Valley Raceway in Beloit Kansas.

Lucas Oil’s Executive Vice President, Bob Patison shared his enthusiasm for the success of the proven series and plans for the future of Midget racing. “POWRi has been known as a feeder series and stepping stone for up and coming drivers to polish their skills. We identified the growing potential for this organization to unify the sport of Midget Racing. With Lucas Oil backing the POWRi National Midget Series and scheduling co-sanctioned events with ASCS, we are laying down the ground work for a stable future.”

Kenny Brown, Director of POWRi stated “We are thrilled to further develop the sport and are going to take Midget racing to the next level. Several of the 2011 event highlights will feature TV Coverage on SPEED with Lucas Oil’s On The Edge produced by NEWAVE Productions. This is really exciting to offer national level exposure. The Drivers recognize this and should draw an all-star cast of drivers from the sport’s top sanctioning organizations. Last year we had 150 different teams participating in the series and between 35-45 cars at every event. With events like the 2 day Cornhusker Midget Nationals at Junction Motor Speedway paying $12,000 to the winner, the highest paying midget purse for 2011, we can expect even more for entries this season.”

“The King of Sprint Cars” and ASCS Founder & President, Emmett Hahn expressed his support for POWRi and Lucas Oil’s new initiative for Midget Racing. “The business of race promotions is hard. The vision has to stay on course. When you treat everyone fair & equal, and install the keys to success, you got a winner. In the case of the Lucas Oil POWRi Series, the keys are organization, TV coverage, points fund, and large cash purses.

The Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series schedule includes 26 dates throughout the Midwest including IL, IN, KS, MO, NE and WI. For more information and details on all the biggest Midget events in the country, check out the POWRi Web Site.
