Peoria SpeedwayPeoria speedway update

(Peoria, IL) New track owner Curt Mottaz and his staff at Peoria Speedway are busy getting the facilities ready for the season-opening 4th Annual “Don Bohlander Tribute” for UMP Late Models on Sunday, April 3. The 50 lap feature, which pays $4,000 to-win, was won in thrilling fashion by UMP star Jason Feger, and was nominated for “Race of the Year” in 2010.

The race is in honor of Peoria Sports Hall of Fame member Don Bohlander, who will be inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame August 14 at Florence Speedway in Kentucky. Bohlander is a 10-time Peoria Speedway track champ whose career spanned 45 years and over 350 feature wins at 25 tracks. Bohlander was diagnosed with Parkinson/s Disease in 2001, and his family has become passionate about raising money for research to find a cure for the disease. Donations for Parkinson’s Research will be accepted during the racing program.

UMP Modifieds ($800 to-win) and Hornets ($250 to-win) will join the UMP Late Models for the “Bohlander Tribute”. Total purse for the race is nearly $22,000. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for Seniors, and $5 for kids ages 8-15. Children under 8 will be admitted free of charge. Pit passes are $30.

PLAYDAY THIS SATURDAY
The 2011 racing season at Peoria Speedway begins this Saturday, March 26 with an open practice session for all classes. Pit gates open at 2 PM, with an open practice session for all classes from 4-9 PM. Pit passes are $10, with FREE grandstand admission. The concession and beer stands will both be open.

RACEIVERS MANDATORY FOR UMP LM, MODS
Raceivers will be mandatory for the UMP Late Models and UMP Modifieds for all events at Peoria Speedway in 2011. With a curfew mandated by the City of Peoria each racing night, the use of Raceivers will help getting the cars lined up quicker on the track. Raceivers are available for purchase at the online store at www.peoriaspeedway.com and drivers failing to comply with this rule will not be allowed to compete.

SEASON TICKET SALES AND PLANS
The deadline for purchasing full Season Ticket plans is April 2. The 29 race season ticket plan is available for $279, a $100 saving over face ticket value. Unused Season Tickets can be returned at the end of the year for $6 apiece, meaning the ticket holder does not completely lose out in the event of a rain out. Fans can also save $45 by purchasing a 20 Weekly Racing Package for 20 regular nights of UMP action for $195. A Special Event Package is available for $108, a $49 savings. The “Outlaw Street Stock” race on May 29 and “NASCAR Night” on June 15 are NOT included in any of the ticket packages. All packages are available through the online store on the track website.

ADAMS HIRED AS PR/MARKETING DIRECTOR
Jeff Adams has been hired to handle PR and Marketing duties at the track for 2011. Adams has over 20 years experience as a racing journalist, radio host, and track announcer. Adams worked in the same capacity for Paducah International Raceway, and was a consultant at the Dirt Track at Route 66 Raceway. Adams will be responsible for handling all press releases and securing marketing partners for the track.

30 BANNERS AVAILABLE FOR 2011 ON BACKSTRETCH, INCLUDES 2 SEASON TICKETS
There will be 30 spots available for 4’x10’ promotional banners which will be displayed on the backstretch for all 31 races at the track. The banners will face the crowd, and will include 2 season tickets, valued at $558. The banners are available for $800, with renewals for future years available for $700.
