SFCR - St. Francois County RacewayFarmington, MO (April 9) – With a nice crowd on hand and Ron’s Tire Center in the house,Tim Montgomery, Fredericktown, MO lays claim to his first win of the young season in the Sprint Division at St Francois County Raceway. Montgomery started alongside defending track champion, Jimmy Hurley. These two along with Ryan Kempin, Catawissa, MO, Kasey Burch, Farmington, MO and Brad Greer, Coulterville, IL would spring for the lead. Tim Montgomery had a very fast car this evening as he put distance on his brother quickly. Joey was working the cushion and hooked it on the second lap and rolled the car over on its side. He would put the car back down on all four and continue. The restart found a newcomer to the top five as Kenny Hambrick listed in fourth spot. A minor spin for Carl Finder was the only other caution in the event. On the last restart Tim seemed to be having traction and or handling issues. We asked him in the winners circle after an he told the crowd his car got in the “grease” and it took a couple of laps to get the tires clean. This was the time that Hurley could get close, but not pass the leader. Montgomery cruised to the win followed by Hurley, Rod Crabdree, Joey Boyd and Kasey Burch. Boyd started at the end of the grid for his drive to fourth. Heat winners included Kempin, Hurley, and Joey Montgomery. Tim Montgomery takes the dash.

Brent Thompson makes two in a row in the A-Modified Division. Starting rather deep in the field for him, seventh, Thompson survived first the opening lap wreck that involved Danny Resinger, Kasey Nations, Billy Joe Beard, and Chris Hayes. Resinger would go to the back on this restart. Billy Smith and Kent Nations jumped out to the front on the restart. Smith with the advantage found the slower car of Chris Brayton in front of him. As the caution came out for an incident at the opposite end of the track, Smith took a low line to get around Brayton. These two made hard contact and Smith would break his mount and retire for the event. Thompson inherited the lead at this point and never looked back. One more caution would slow this event. Dave Chilton and Billy Joe Beard got together, Chilton continued and Beard retired from the event. Thompson was chased home by runner-up finisher Jeff Asher, Resinger battled back for a third place finish. Chris hayes brings his car home in fourth and “Rooster” Griffin takes fifth place. Heat winners were Smith and Kent Nations. Smith takes the honors in the dash.

Somebody new takes the checkers in the B-Modified Division. Kyle Stolzer, St Genevieve, MO had the luck with him tonight. Stolzer started on the outside of the front row outside. Pole position starter, Chris Boyd and he charged hard into the first corner. Stolzer would lead the pack out with Boyd and Kenny Harris in close pursuit. Not much change in these positions. Boyd would at one point get around Stolzer, only to have the pass negated by a caution flag. Going back to the last complet lap scored, Stolzer went back to the front and survived for the win. Boyd held on for second as he was followed by Mike Savage for third, Eddie Gross makes it to fourth and John Bohn completes the top five. Boyd, Stolzer and Shane Blair were the heat winners on this night.

Two fast racing machines started the Pure Street on the front row. Paul Belken and Kenny Kennedy put on a great show for the fans for the first eleven laps. These two made contact coming off corner number, Belken suffered a left rear flat in the exchange and called it a night. After the restart it was all Kennedy. Jimmy Farris for the second week in a row takes runner up honors. He was followed by opening night winner Dusty Homan in third. Robbie Williams makes a good showing in fourth and Eric Sarakas finishes fifth.
