Rain Forces Cancellation of World of Outlaws Sprint Car Event at I-55 Raceway

World of Outlaws Sprint Car SeriesMidwest storms complete knockout punch; next up Salina Highbanks Speedway April 23

PEVELY, Mo. – April 16, 2011 – Rain has forced World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series officials to postpone tonight’s event at I-55 Raceway, marking the second consecutive night weather has forced the postponement of World of Outlaws event.

“While we do expect the rains to be completely gone by this afternoon, we won’t be able to race due to the heavy amounts of rain we’ve experienced so far this weekend at the facility,” said World of Outlaws Series Director Carlton Reimers. “We are hard at work with the track to establish at make up date. We apologize to our fans but we will return so that they can see a fantastic show.”

The World of Outlaws will be back at I-55 Raceway on Saturday, Aug. 6, for the Ironman 55. Last year Jason Meyers held off Lucas Wolfe at the checkered flag to for the victory.

Joey Saldana will hold onto the points lead through the weekend as Friday night’s event at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Ky., was also postponed. Steve Kinser holds onto second, four markers back with former champions Jason Meyers and Donny Schatz and the series’ most recent winner, Jason Sides, rounding out the Top 5.

Next up for ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ is Salina (Okla.) Highbanks Speedway on Saturday, April 23. For more information on the World of Outlaws, click WorldofOutlaws.com.
